We had an apartment in the front of the motel. It was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and contained everything we needed and more. The motel is on the main road so can be a little noisy in the day but was fine at night until the buses from Queenstown to Milford sound start rolling in in the morning. A good way out of town but that is an advantage as it is a busy place. Irene was most helpull and we really enjpyed our 3 night stay.

Room tip: Choose a room at the back if traffic noise worries you

Hi and thank you for taking the time to give us a review yes its a lovely apartment with good space but it is on the street frontage so yes traffic noise can be an issue if you want to sleep in but ok if you are up early and heading away to Milford Sound you don't notice the traffic noise but it does go quiet at night time here in Te Anau not like being in a big city with lots of noise all night.
We are only a 10min walk into town but likely a 30min walk to the end of the town for some of the Restaurants. I will relay your comments to our lovely ladies whom come in cleaning the rooms they like to get feedback and feel appreciated for all their hard work. and if you every this way again please come stay and perhaps in one of our brand new apartment which will be open on 1 October 2018
Thanks
Irene

Stayed at the Red Tussock motel recently. The room was very comfortable with a nice kitchen and TV. It was very clean and tea and coffee are provided. The owners, Dave and Irene, were very kind and helped me book activities in the area. It was the best accommodation I have had in New Zealand and I will certainly be returning!

Well we would like to say a huge thank you for your review on Red Tussock Motel it does mean alot to us to get great feed back from guests that appreciate the hard work that we put in to help our guests enjoy the very best stay not only with us but also our beautiful Fiordland Area. Weather does not always play the part but Im sure in any weather even the rain some things are still amazing to see.
If you return let us know directly as we might try to give you one of our brand new apartments that will be finished by October 2018 Summer Season.
Thanks
Irene & Dave

What a beautiful, welcoming place to stay! Irene is a knowledgeable and friendly lady, who, from the outset, ensured we had an enjoyable stay in Te Anau. The motel unit was clean and comfy and had everything we needed (love that there were fair trade coffee, sugar and hot choc sachets). The 4G of data was most appreciated too!

Thank you Irene!

Hello Anna
Its always great to read a review and know the hard work we put in is appreciated both with management and staff and great to see you even noticed the smaller details like the Fair Trade- Coffee and Tea etc.
Wifi is all free but we limited it to 4 GB unless requested from guests for more Data as we feel with guests being on holiday it is very important to keep in touch with friends and family.
Te Anau is a great place to come and stay alot quieter than some other places and less people so we try to promote it more for that reason and hope our guest have the best stay possible in Te Anau.
Thanks
Irene

The motel is at the end of a long stretch of motels along the lake. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the center of town and is just across from the Fiordland visitor center. A few motels along the way had restaurants but there is a large selection in the city center. My room was comfortable, quiet and clean - all I really need in a motel.

Thank you for taking to the time to give us a review and great to read where we are to the town and the Fiordland National Park Visitors Centre is across the road very handy to get information, transport etc.
Just to update in NZ motels don't have restaurants they are called Hotel's but Motels mostly have some basic cooking facilities in the room like a Microwave, Cooktop, Toaster & Kettle so you can do basic cooking as Im sure its very expensive to eat out 3 meals per day while on Holiday.
Thanks
Irene

Stayed for two nights. Good location on lakefront. About 10 minute walk to town centre. Had upstairs room. Fairly comfortable. Older style units. Quite clean but maybe slightly more attention to detail as some bits a bit dusty. Overall a comfortable stay.

Hello and thank you for your review yes we have different levels of accommodation due to parts being built in different era's of time the part you stayed in was the oldest and normally for larger family groups up to 8 people can sleep in the 3 Bedroom Apartment. I will take your review on board and get the dusting brush perhaps up higher hopefully this winter that apartment might get a bit of refreshing with some parts to help it look less older and more Retro themed.
We do hope you enjoyed your time in NZ
