The Te Anau Lakeside is one of the very few hotels/motels around the globe
that lives up to its name.
It is right across the pristine, 91 mile long, Lake Te Anau and proudly
sits in one of the largest and most beautifully manicured garden settings
in the world.
Consequently the visitors enjoy spectacular views from almost
every room.
Lakeside offers a variety of accommodations, rooms or apartments to
suit whatever your need, wish or want.
A quick check of their website will give you a clear idea of the
available choices.
Every unit is fully self contained and serviced daily.
This literally means that you have everything you need for totally
independent living, cutlery, plates, stove, micro…the whole caboodle.
A mobile barbeceue is available, as is Free Wifi..
.
Lakeside has an added bonus. It is a pioneering family owned and run business with at least 3 generations experience in the hospitality industry.
Hosts Greg and Jodi are not just managers. They are gracious and generous hosts, keen to share their knowledge with the guests. They are both, with their 2 young daughters, also experienced, intrepid travelers and sightseers including local camping and fully understand the challenges of travel.

Consequently the managers intimate knowledge and understanding of Te Anau
and surrounds is passionate and unique, a love they are keen to share with their guests to fully enjoįy.

I write this review following three decades of annual travel to and stays in
Te Anau.

I have stayed in most places in Te Anau but finally settled on Lakeside for its
uniquely high quality accommodation and personal service qualities.
I have recommended Lakeside to my many friends and everyone has happily enjoyed their stays.

Lakeside is located within a comfortable five minute walk to the town centre.
The beautifully kept business centre has everything available in large
cities. Two very competitive supermarkets, an abundance of high quality
restaurants and everything in between.

Room tip: Almost all rooms have excellent views but Main building rooms face the lake and the snow capped mountain range.

We are NZ travellers & this motel was great value for money. We had a 1 bedroom suite overlooking the lake, spectacular scenery & the suite was spacious & had eveything we needed.
Staying here means you are slightly removed from the noise of the main street but its an easy 5 min walk( that's a pretty slow walk!). Best of both worlds, close to amenities without noise but with a spectacular view.

Had a night here whilst exploring. We had the upstairs lake view apartment which was perfect for our family of 4. Very clean with everything we needed.

Perfect location for the info centre and trips - just a walk along the lakeside.

Very friendly greeting and excellent suggestions for meals.
Rooms were comfortable with king and single bed, kitchenette and seperate bathroom and toilet.
Car parking at no cost.
The views of the lake were spectacular and the walk to the town and activity departures were less than 10 minutes.
Highly recommended

We were more than happy with our one bedroom appartment which had a separate toilet and bathroom and shower.
There was a good double bed so we slept well in our cosy unit.
We were greeted warmly and our hosts were very good throughout. Same with the staff, everyone was helpful.
The units were warm and cosy too and we were chuffed with that given it was mid-May.
We found out why later and were told that underfloor heating was put in when the Motels were built.
Our Host Greg and his wife were right on to things - very good.
Their Location is right on the lakefront, close to town i.e. a 5 - 10 minutes walk depending on one's fitness and plenty of restaurants and cafes too , most were very good. Likewise any tours and cruises offices were close by.
If you are are on one of the great kiwi walks or in Te Anau, or coming as a tourist, this is a lovely place and base.

As for the Lakeside Motels and Appartments, Myself I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Why would you? Thank you to our hosts and great staff.
We will be back.

Room tip: We had unit 14 right in the middle with great views out over the Lake. Laundry right new door but no issues there.
