We stayed two nights whilst exploring Milford Sound and before heading out on the Kepler Track. Great location, lovely room and great advice from Mary which helped us get the most out of our trip. Wish we could have stayed longer!
We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back when we head down for other Great Walks (and hopefully some other adventures).

We stayed here a couple nights and it was tidy and comfortable. Nice to be able to watch telly in bed.. comfortable bed and pillows. Was a very good price. Mum and son team were accommodating and friendly.. as we just turned up with no previous warning. Has a cool playground for kids and nice grounds.. would be suitable for families. We had the garden view. Only downside was how hot it got at night and had to have window and door open.

I was really happy to be welcomed by Nigel. He treated me with respect and had a bit of a laugh. He spent time explaining about Te Anau and all the activities available for my family.
And Mary, when I spoke to her initially over the phone, she was friendly and patient with all my questions I had. I made a booking there and then.
The room was very clean and really spacious. It had all the facilities I needed for my family. It even had a balcony which was really nice. The place in general was very clean and the sheets were spotless.
And their staff were really friendly and polite and they stopped to chat. Even if they looked busy they had time for their customers. Felt welcomed and appreciated. Not something you come across often sadly.
Will not hesitate to come back in winter and stay here again. Without question.

Simply fabulous. Super clean and spacious rooms with great facilities. Mary and Nigel are very welcoming and helpful, offering to help book excursions and giving advice on the areas of interest. Everything is at your fingertips and the main center is a quick stroll away. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday with superb Southland hospitality.

Helpful staff in the office. Our unit was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were upstairs, overlooking attractive and well maintained gardens. The property is a short walk across a park to the main street of Te Anau, so very handy for restaurants and shops. We can recommend and would stay here again.

Loved our stay at the Explorer. Perfect set up and room for our family. Room was super clean, comfortable beds and had everything we needed. Hosts were fantastic super friendly and knowledgeable. Washing facility’s was a bonus!! Defiantly recommend thanks heaps.
