It's definitely a skill to be able to talk clearly over the rushing water inside the caves! Haha but it's great to hear that you had a lovely time exploring with the crew. Thanks so much for visiting.

Great opportunity to visit with kids going free during the school holidays. Having a bit of a lake cruise with a bit of a history lesson to go with it was interesting. Great to have details of the glow worms explained and demonstrated as well as details about the history of the cave system explained as well. The kids were a little bit scared by the noise of the waterfall and the complete darkness in the glow worm cave itself, but overall a lot of fun and reasonably priced for a trip over a couple of hours.

Absolutely loved this place - the informative presentation with great local humour made it great fun for everyone. The majestical glow worms, their sticky traps and their cannibalistic behavior was fascinating. The history of the whole place going back millenia was awe inspiring. I especially loved the crashing waterfalls in the caves. This company provides a great value for time and money. Highly recommend

The caves have a small river running through. This cave is very different to those of Waitomo (North Island). You need to be able to bend at the waist and walk due to the very low ceiling height in places. There are limited numbers of Glow worms, no stalactites or stalagmites. I found the boat we sat in inside the glow worm cave was very low in the water and when the captain moved around it tipped very low. The boat often hit the rocks on the cave wall and due to the complete blackness there was no warnings. Can't say I enjoyed the boat, first time i have felt unsafe. The price of $99 was EXPENSIVE compared to similar options.

Had a gloriously sunny day and from the start on the catamaran our young guide captured our interest with his stories of the history of this place, his love for it shone through. A short walk to the cave entrance then bending under the entrance (couple of bumps on the head from looking up too soon!) we walked on metal ramps over the rushing water. . I was amazed how much water and how fast it was going as well as very noisy. The boat took 8 of us, 4 on each side facing outwards, with the guide pulling the boat along on a rope under low ceilings where the lights were magical, certainly looked like fairyland. I wished I had had a hat on to avoid the odd drip onto my head, we had puffer jackets on but it wasn't that cold in February. Once we were out again (more bumps on the head) we had refreshments and listened to our guide from the boat and watched a slide show of the life cycle of the glowworm, all very interesting.
