We were disappointed with our stay at Anchorage. We had a 2 bedroom apartment. It was very small & basic. It was clean & tidy but the beds were so uncomfortable we barely got any sleep. It also wasn’t cheap & for the cost I would expect more but this was a very basic motel in my opinion.
We stayed here 2 nights, making it our base for exploring the local area and lakes. we had a room with one of the outdoor hot tubs but it was impossible to maintain a temperture warm enough to really enjoy it - we gave up completely on the 2nd night and didn't venture as far as getting in. A friend who was travelling with us was upgraded to a spa room
A bit tired and in need of an upgrade, but still open and helpful in the Covid era,
Very friendly and helpful staff. We had a really comfortable bed in a spacious room with kitchen and en suite. All rooms have easy parking next to them. The location is nice and quiet, and restaurants and bars in walking distance. Overall great value!
The room was OK, a bit old and tired but acceptable.
Sarah who was on duty in office was exceptionally helpful when we had car tire issues and went out of her way to help us, calling in her husband (mobile mechanic) who was also very helpful. Would probably stay here again.
We stayed here three nights, and had a great time. Thanks to covid changing our flights, we had the budget room on our first night (due to us adding on an extra night after our initial booking) and then two nights in the hot tub studio. Both rooms were excellent, clean, modern, satisfactory in every way (except their wifi is poor, which they acknowledge, but Te Anau is miles from anywhere.) The hot tub was a delight (note you need to heat it yourself after the first night via a wood burner they set up for you - that was actually quite fun!) but any of the rooms were great. Comfy beds, nice pressure showers, good kitchen facilities. 10 minute walk to the main street past the lake, or one minute in the car. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Te Anau desperately needs travellers at the moment, and value for money, this is a great choice.
