Such a cool experience doing the overnight kayaking trip. Go Orange were great at organising everything, even a last minute issue on my part with no sleeping bag. Our guide Olly, was super passionate about the area and always made sure you were safe but it still felt like an adventure.
One of the best things I've done travelling. When all the other boats leave in the afternoon, you are the only people on doubtful sound, which is truly breathtaking.
Do it.

They provide all the professional gear, from thermal layers, to neoprene suits, to the waterproof jackets. All you need to wear are shoes or slippers and undies, and they have a changing room to put on all your gear. We've done tandem lake kayak before but this sea kayaking was funner with the waves. It took awhile to get used to the steering but it was manageable for us beginners. We even connected (by holding onto our 6 kayaks), set up a sail, and let the winds sail us back to shore! Our guide said this was his first time doing that in Milford since it's not always that windy (unlike at Doubtful Sound), but it was an awesome and unique experience. Highly recommended for a unique perspective from the water, rather than just on a scenic cruise. Others in our group even jumped into the lake for a dip after the kayak tour!

Doubtful Sound offers breathtaking scenery and kayaking is a great way to see it. We were extremely lucky with the weather given the high number of rainfall days in Fiordland each year. Alex did a great job guiding our small group and is very knowledgeable about the local area and its history.

What a fantastic way to see Doubtful Sound. From start to finish this tour was of a high standard. We were lucky with the weather and had a still, dry and later sunny day! The boat and bus trips are very scenic and enjoyable. You get kitted up in so much stuff that you stay nice and warm! Remember insect repellant for the dreaded sand flies though!! There were 3 or 4 groups going out at the same time but the guides leave enough space between each one so you still get that small group experience. Our guide Lydia was fantastic and we paddled at a really nice pace - didn’t feel like we were over exerting ourselves at all. Thoroughly enjoyed this day out and much more peaceful than Milford Sound.

Very well organised, good equipment, safety focused. Thank you Alex for leading this very fun trip. Your love for this beautifull place was evident and inspiring. It was interesting to hear about history, local flora, fauna and some fun Maori legends. Only downside was constant buzz of aeriplanes but nothing can be done about that I guess.

Thanks you for you review on your Kayaking experience, unfortunately we cannot stop the noise as everyone wants to see the sounds and some are on short time frames so flying in the best option. Thanks again :)
