Cruising Pattersen Inlet at Stewart Island was a rich, forfilling experience. Ruggedy Range tour guide was very knowledgeable, informative and capable boatman. We saw blue nose dolphins playing in the inlet along with yellow eyed penguins diving for fish. A very interesting site. Sea lion, sunbathing and Albatross begging for a spare fishy morsel. This proved to be a wide range of marine species. Our tour guide was respectful to the wildlife but managed to give us a closeup view of everything. We'll worth booking a Patrersen inlet tour with Ruggedy Range.

A fantastic trip in the comfortable Milford Wanderer that covers places in Stewart Island well beyond the roads and tracks. Food on board is just superb and the scenery stunning. The crew who are skilled and knowledgeable take you ashore in all sorts of interesting places and have the knowledge of the wildlife and the history to make the places really come alive. Hot showers at the end of great days. Highly recommended to all who appreciate our history and the wonderful country.

A surface cruise first, feeding albatrosses so that they were almost within touching distance (not just 1 or 2 but about 50!) plus lots of other birds. Then we were transferred to a semisub, where downstairs the hull had windows for us to watch the fish and other marine life from below the waves. We were both glad this part only lasted about half an hour, as the motion was rather weird! But a very good crew, and a thoroughly recommended trip.

An unforgettable cruise around Paterson Inlet from Oban and around Iona past derelict remains of whaling history that landed us on Ulva where native bush and animals are regenerating after the removal of introduced predators. a very knowledgeable guide pointed out so many things that we would have probably missed. Next time we would opt to stay on Ulva for another hour exploring on our own and hail the water-taxi. The trip is a must for anyone visiting Stewart Island
