Owner description: Stewart Island Experience operates daily ferry service between Bluff and Stewart Island all year around. Stewart Island is New Zealand's ultimate eco-tourism destination and the location of Rakiura National Park. During the one hour ferry crossing, keep a look out for the Mollymawks (Albatross) that often follow the vessel. Daily coach connections operate between Bluff and Invercargill, and in summer also to Te Anau and Queenstown (summer only).

This is a fairly straightforward ferry experience. Stewart Island is absolutely worth visiting so this is kind of a must. Pay the ticket price, load your baggage into one of the bins, then board the ferry. We had fairly calm waters but was still a little rough. I know some friends who traveled the day after and had very rough seas. If you are prone to sea sickness definitely take some medicine or ginger prior to sailing. Otherwise a good experience with them!

It's really an experience.
The sea was very wild and choppy.
Most of the time I thought we were under water.
There were a few that was not feeling too well because of the choppy sea.
Informative and good.
Just in an hour we cross the straits.

We had a great experience - our crossing was good. It can be rough so be prepared with sea sick tablets prior to trip if you do not have Sea legs. Check ferry times on the web. They run on time and was efficient. Paid and free parking available at Bluff at the Terminal. One bag checked on allowance and one small carry on for free. On our trip there was a dinghy and bikes. Coffee and tea available for purchase. A one hour trip.

Travel on 25 March 18 and came back on the 27 March. Booked the package deal, shuttle from the IVC Airport return at a cost $380.00 for two people and received a discount for a return trip. Really well organised check in but pre booked tickets on realjourneys.com. Smooth sailing that took 1 hour. Comp coffee and outside area to view the scenery - well recommended.
