The trip to Stewart island was really expensive with 2 teens! The hour ride over was rough and being in the smaller of the two vessels didn't help, but The staff were friendly and funny. The return ride was on the bigger boat and very smooth and flat. So I would check the weather if you are not a fan of boat rides in the big ocean or prone to sea sickness

We have heard about how the ferry crossing is wild and it sure was! We loved it though. A few ppl chundering into sick bags were well looked after by staff. Great view of the end (start?) of SH1 and good commentary/ safety breifing. Much softer on the way back, almost everyone fell asleep- i liked the rough one more !

Thanks for the review, great to hear how much you enjoyed the rough crossing on the way over - as you could see, it's different for everyone! Pleased to see that the staff were on hand to make sure everyone was well looked after.

This is a slick operation and very well run in both directions. We had a fairly rough crossing (smooth by Foveaux Strait standards) and the staff on board were very sympathetic and discreet in helping unwell passengers! Ran on time despite the conditions.

Thanks for the review. We are pleased to hear how well our staff looked after both yourself and your fellow passengers on what sounds like a rough crossing through the Foveaux Strait. Hope you had a fantastic time on the island once there!
Regards, the Real Journeys team.

The trip over to the island was a little bumpy but the captain and crew were very good. The trip back to Bluff was calmer and very relaxing

Nice friendly staff although the parking lady could have done with a better outlook. I was going to pay for secure parking but she was 'whats the point' attitude so I didn't. They lost out on the price of paid parking and saved me money. I parked in free parking across the road from terminal. I parked over night and car was fine. Ferry great don't waste more money paying for parking.
