Tried out Blue Kanu for something different - and we got it. Service was excellent and the food was sublime. Excellent menu and winelist and centrally located with cool decor. Put Blue Kanu on your Queentown restaurant list!

Great restaurant with great range of Asian/ Thai style food. We had a good selection and would recommend the duck nachos with goats cheese - sounds odd but was great. Slow cooked beef was stunning but beware the jalapeño pepper lurking on the side !!
Great service v helpful

My husband and I had a fantastic dinner the other night at Blue Kanu restaurant!!! Everything we ordered was super delicious!
For a drink we both had a ginger colada which was really good served with a slice of pineapple and a few thin slices of fresh ginger it was so good. We ordered the golden shrimp with puffed rice and it was so tasty coated with a delicious sauce that was slightly hot and puffed cereal. It was a real winner of a dish. We also ordered Maori bread with a smoked butter and a shiitake egg roll also delicious.
We had a very nice server who explained the menu as they have some smaller and some larger dishes. You can either sit either inside or outside. Don’t miss this restaurant we could see how it is rated so high on TripAdvisor!

We are foodies and cocktail lovers— When we walked in Larry the bartender greeted us and made the most delicious cocktails we have ever had in a restaurant/bar. Then we lucked out and had Sophie wait on us— what a charmer— everyone here works together for a totally positive experience. The decor is so cool and hip and sleek and elegant— not tiki bar AT ALL. I could sit there all nice and drink Larry’s cocktails— he even had my husband help him “shake” one— and they were beautiful too with their garnishes.

This is the best meal we have had in a week of eating in great places in NZ. Started with pork ribs— outstanding, delicate and the mustard sauce they sit on with the pickled veggies is an outstanding combo. So creative and perfect. Kudos to the chef all around. We also had the golden shrimp— a huge bowl of crispy fried shrimp with an awesome sauce and then puffed rice sprinkled around— how did he come up with that? Wonderful. Finally a perfectly cooked red snapper— we did tell Sophie to make sure it was a bit “under cooked” as we had read reviews that it was somewhat overcooked by one or two people. It was PERFECT— with a wonderful salad on the side. We were so stuffed but simply could not stop eating it. Magnificent. It was the best whole cooked fish we have ever eaten.

They also brought us tastings of two wines that we were contemplating and that made the decision easier.

We are already thinking we will go back tomorrow— even though we only have two nights here— at a minimum for one of Larry’s drinks at the bar— never seen a bartender be so kind, so knowledgeable and talented! He’s the best— Go and enjoy this place — Jamie you run a great place— what a team spirit you have going on there. Congrats!

We trusted trip advisor to guide us for our night in Queenstown and we're not let down. The decor, atmosphere, food and staff attitude were second to none. Fiona, our waitress, was friendly, interested in us and great fun. Fiona made sure our food was delivered to us at our required pace. The food was out of this world. Totally deserves being number 2 on the TA list. Beautifully done. Thank you for a most memorable diner.
