Was really looking forward to dinner here. Unfortunately we had the signature dish of beef wellington. The pastry was totally uncooked - not edible. We sent it back to the kitchen and our lovely waitress came back and explained that it was fine according to the chef. However uncooked pastry is still un
cooked pastry. Not going back ever.

We went for our wedding anniversary based on strong online reviews and it met expectations. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, great drinks selections and fantastic food. We didn't have a huge appetite unfortunately, so only had the clams to share, followed by the Venison and Pork Belly, with a side of Brussel Sprouts. All were absolutely spot on. Service was very friendly and accommodating, only small blip was a long wait for the food menu's after being seated. Would recommend to anyone looking for a special meal in Queenstown.

We usually go to Rata every week for lunch when we are in town. It’s a quiet environment at lunch time, usually no booking required, and that’s the only time when the food and service is worth the price :) food, quality and taste consistent over years! Thanks Rata.

Delicious food, attentive service - what more could you want?
Detail - shared the lamb ‘feast’ option, which was enough meat for 3-4 people, let alone a couple. Goat cheese profiteroles were delicious, beautifully presented - I even took a photo of them, something I never do (unlike millennials!)
Dessert was a slightly small and underwhelming chocolate fondant, but did not detract from the meal overall.
I’d like to try a few other dishes again soon.

Almost two years to the day we visited Rata again.with much anticipation. Would it be as amazing as last time ? Happily Rata is still one of our most memorable dining experiences . From front of house to the wait staff it doesn’t get any better and the food is exceptional.
