Loved the trip , farm show and meal. Was a very memorable night. The boat was old, but very quaint and like stepping back in time. highly enjoyed.

Appreciated the recommendation. Great value @ $130 includes top quality BBQ lunch. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful historic ship, very comfortable & suitable all weathers. Beautiful gardens in microclimate. Lots options on arrival. Would do again.

Have never complained about a bad experience before. Great boat trip with lively party atmosphere, there and back. Booked buffet dinner weeks in advance for wedding anniversary and birthday and was really looking forward to the evening. Given lovely table by window, the atmosphere was lovely and staff were excellent and friendly. This is where the pleasant experience ended. We were the very last table called up for the buffet. Plenty of meat options but not much of anything else. Empty salad and vegetable bowls which were not replenished, and a bowl of empty mussel shells. Some diners were already ahead of us for seconds and thirds by the time we were called. The quality of food and choices were underwhelming and desserts didn't live up to the advertised hype and not much choice. Seems that larger groups were called up first and got the pick of the food. Couples and small groups were left to clean up the leftovers. It seems as if the buffet is trying to cope with excessive numbers at the cost of a potentially nice experience. Left deflated and upset that a special evening celebration was ruined. Expected something better for the price.

Hi Marek, thanks for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. We're pleased to see you enjoyed the boat and the atmosphere, as well as how well you were looked after by our staff, however, disappointed to see your comments that the dinner itself wasn't up to our normal high standards. The food on offer is regularly replenished and refreshed by our team, so we do apologise if that seemed to have not been the case on the night you visited. The reason we call people up to the buffet by tables is to minimise the wait time at the actual serveries and I can assure you that we don't leave couples or smaller groups until the end and it would have just been the way it happened that night. We take great pride in the fantastic food served by the team here and will ensure all your comments are passed on to the team to ensure we continue to keep our standards high, even on busier nights.
Kind regards, the team at Real Journeys.

Nice 30 minute cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak High County Farm. Prebook the BBQ buffet lunch or afternoon tea on the farm. Snacks and drinks available for purchase on the boat.

We always wanted to experience the Earnslaw and finally did last December. Our trip was an evening departure and included dinner at Walter Peak High Country Farm.
It WAS a great experience, the boat trip was great, the meal was great, the tour around the farm, including the dog herding sheep, was great. We couldn’t fault it. Highly recommended.
