A nice heritage ship but an awful trip.
The ambiance on board is ruined by noisy people and kids running wild. No one can hear the poor pianist or commentary.
Not worth $72 of my well earned money.
One hour to go. Let me off!

Kia ora Michael, thanks for taking the time to post this review. The ship is definitely an iconic part of Queenstown an obviously the stunning views whilst on-board. I'm sorry to hear that you felt the noise from other guests was disruptive and you could not hear. We do pride ourselves on all guests enjoying the historic steamship experience. i will follow-up with our Operations team to ensure we have no ongoing issues with the sound system. We do hope you enjoyed your time in Queenstown. Kind regards, the team at Real Journeys.
We did the dinner cruise. It was well worth the money. The food was incredible, some of the best buffet food I've had!
There was a 3 person table over from us that I saw each person stuffing about 3 or 4 of each type of dessert into containers to take with them, at the same time when there was some of these desserts not yet replenished at the buffet and people not getting a go. Found this to be very rude. Whilst a waiter was clearing their table watching them do it and said nothing of it.
The farm show was great as well. Have seen a few of the sheep shearing shows and thats pretty much all they do. This one was better with the dogs involved and having them round up the sheep.
The cruise was also great, being able to watch the steamer fire up and work as you cruise along. Dont know many other trips that would offer this
This is a definitely must do when in Queenstown, this was our second time as we had previously done the dinner at Walter peak farm. Must say preferred the trip more in daylight. The views were amazing. You do need to have a warm jacket on if outside as it can get a bit chilly. Will be back again.
One of the best activity for either half day. Would recommend to take the cruise and dine in for dinner at the restaurant. Very scenic ride along the lake and the restaurant at shore has great ambience especially for dinner.
The lunch cruise to Walter Peak farm is just the best day imaginable, the cruise is so relaxing, the farm tour demonstration is amazing , the highlight is definately the sheep dogs. Then there is the bbq lunch, for mine the best food anywhere in New Zealand.Go do it.
We were at a loss one day of what to do in Queenstown and chose the Walter Peak High Country farm tour, which included a trip on the TSS Earnslaw. After seeing the Earnslaw steaming across the lake many times, it was great to experience it for myself. The experience at Walter Peak is a must-do. It was great to see the sheep shearing, sheep round up and have afternoon tea in the gorgeous lodge. Feeding the farm animals and learning about the farm were also highlights. Will always remember this experience.
