This is one of those "must do" experiences in Queenstown.
The trip across on the old steamship "The Earnslaw" is thoroughly enjoyable, from a delightful little on-board café, an old piano for a sing-a-long, a viewing platform to watch the stokers shovelling coal into the big steam engines, the little picture museum/gallery and artefacts on the steamer ... to the amazing views as we steamed our way across the lake.
Upon arrival we were "entertained" with a shearing show run by Cameron. This gave us an insight into shearing of sheep and also the rounding up of sheep with his amazing sheep dogs King, Sue & Bess. This was all infused with some fine humour on Cameron's behalf.... totally entertaining.
We were then treated to a delightful afternoon tea, including the most delicious home baked scones with jam and cream... delicious!
After this we wandered around to visit the deer, the highland cattle, alpacas and the sheep and were able to feed them. This was a great experience for the children.
All up this was a fabulous four hour adventure!!
