It looks like a motel on the outside initially. Perhaps it was late at night.

However we were warmly welcomed and check in by the friendly front office. There is free parking if you having been driving down from other cities.

A very good location situated just next to the magnificent looking lake. Rooms are very well maintained.

Breakfast range is decent and service personnel Mu have been very helpful throughout.

Suitable for families

Comfortable hotel and excellent service, Sagar at the front desk was so helpful and welcoming. A beautiful view, skip the traffic in Queenstown and be closer to the snow! Lovely stay and we’ll be back.

Not my normal choice when I am on holiday as I like to be centrally located and within easy walking distance of shops and sights, however, booked as part of an overall escorted tour of New Zealand by the tour operator.
It wasn't ideal that it is so far out of town but it did offer up lovely lakeside views. i didn't attempt to use the coastal walkiing path as Queenstown was too wet, but did use the local bus to get back and forth and must admit they were cheap, numerous and easy to use.
On the down side, the hotel is up quite a steep hill from the road which is quite a climb and my room was in a chalet block at the back with no actual view other than some tarmac. Would be a lovely overall setting in better weather though.

We flew into Queenstown, New Zealand from the Gold Coast, Australia in March. The Holiday Inn Frankton Road is an older hotel with a great location. It has 3 different buildings and I believe we were in an older section. Our room was small compared to newer hotels and had not been updated recently but it was clean. It had a queen bed, dresser, nightstands, chair and luggage rack. It felt a little crowded. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo. There was a small balcony with a lake view. The hotel had a guest laundry, thankfully, because we'd been traveling for a couple of weeks. There was a good restaurant with an incredible picture window overlooking the lovely Lake Wakatipu, and we enjoyed our meal there. The hotel sits on a hillside. There was a bus stop on the road below the hotel. It was not the newest and could use a refresh, but it served our purposes for 2nts.

This is a nice, modern, clean hotel. Views from every corner of any area. The onsite restaurant is a nice addition as there's not much in walking distance and the chef prepared an enjoyable meal. Comfy bed, clean throughout. I will have to come back in Winter to get the postcard view. Staff were helpful anywhere. There is bike tracks everywhere to take in the scenery if you're that way inclined. Or just stay in the nicely appointed room with a bottle of red. Enjoy!

Room tip: Certain rooms have specific views, so if that's what you're after ring direct and discuss to get the most of what you're paying.
