After staying at the Copthorne Hotel Lakeside, the most disgusting and rude hotel I had ever been at, we cut our losses and moved here. The service is wonderful, the rooms are clean and quiet, and we are located right next to the lake, where all the shops and restaurants are.

We spent our honeymoon at this hotel 17 years ago and returned for our anniversary this summer with our family. Although the hotel has aged too just like us, the service remains wonderful. We were greeted with welcoming drinks, the room facing the lake and everything is handy and clean. The location is fantastic and there is a bus stop right at the front. Car parking is so convenient at 30$ NZD per day plus valet parking. The breakfast service was great (friendly young lady from Guangzhou) with good choices. Location is so convenient to all shops. We went to another hotel after visiting Milford and really missed the Crowne. Perhaps we hope they may refurbish a bit next time we come - for instance the older furniture in the balcony has a hole in it trapping rainwater ? Keep up with the good work !

Location can't be beat. The city bus that runs every 15 minutes from the airport drops you off right in front of the hotel. The tours to all of the sights leave across the street from the hotel. There is so much amazing food near by and the staff is super friendly
Cons:
It's a dated 2 to 3 start hotel. We went on points. We would have been highly disappointed if we paid the going rate of $400 to $800/night. Location is great but if we stayed again with "real money" we probably would have stayed a bit further out and leveraged the bus/taxi to get into town.
Hotel offered a pre-packed breakfast for those leaving on a tour before the restaurant opened. Our fault for not inquiring more. It was two soggy ham and lettuce sandwiches, two bottled waters, two bananas and stale pastries. We ended up throwing it out. We were okay with it as we thought it was free. We found out it was $56

My husband and I had a lovely stay at the Crowne Plaza. In particular we were thoroughly impressed by Princely in the breakfast restaurant who was charming, attentive, so professional and made the best coffees! And Francisco who was equally charming and helpful with our car and bags!
The rooms were comfortable, the bed had good firmness, shower in the bathroom was strong and hot but probably the carpets are a bit old fashioned and tired. Overall good, warm and hospitable.

Very comfortable hotel with an excellent location in the center of town. The wifi is very good and the staff polite, knowledgeable and efficient. We would definitely stay here again.
Two minor advices: The town is brimming with tourists and traffic can be very heavy, especially during the morning hotel checkout time with traffic jams. So, the 8 km ride to the airport could, believe it or not, take up to 45 minutes. Also, the Queenstown airport is one the most heart stopping airports in which to land and takeoff (approaching through a mountain valley), and it is prone to flight cancellations because of fickle bad weather. Be prepared to unexpectedly stay an extra day because of that.
Having said this Queenstown is one the most beautiful places I have ever see,
