Queenstown offers so much accommodation. Most of it’s probably very good.

We wanted quality central accommodation but didn’t need a view over Lake Wakatipu. We got both quality accommodation and a lake view at the Millennium Hotel. Most rooms though probably come minus the lake view. There are plenty of other opportunities in Queenstown for soaking up and soaking in the lake.

Our Junior Suite was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Our king bed, with quality linen, was most comfortable. The bathroom, including an over-the-bath shower, was lovely. There was plenty of hot water and the pressure was good.

Included Wi-Fi was strong and consistent.

The underground hotel carpark was very convenient at just $10/day.

A free, on-the-hour, shuttle service ran into town and back across most of the day and into the evening. This was convenient, even though it was really only a ten minute walk into town.

Although there are heaps of restaurants in Queenstown, we dined-in one evening and enjoyed a pre-dinner drink at their Club Bar and dinner at the Observatory Restaurant. The evening was great, as was the service.

Interactions with staff, including housekeeping, reception and shuttle drivers were all very positive and professional. Their approach was very much a ‘Yes. We can do that.’ one.

This hotel was recommended to us and we’d happily recommend it to others.

We stayed here before and after walking the Milford Track. We chose here because 1) the hotel would hold our luggage, 2) There were no minimum stay periods during Dec/Jan unlike many other hotels, 3) We could check in on a public holiday unlike other hotels, 4) It had air-con unlike many other hotels, and 5) It was a relatively easy walk to and from Ultimate Hikes for our walk. The rooms were comfortable with a nice view of a beautifully kept and sizeable central garden. The rooms were very clean, quiet, and the block-out curtains and the air-con worked well. Staff were friendly and professional. I have dropped a star because the rooms and bathrooms are dated (over-the-bath showers, difficult to access power points), the beds were small and a bit too soft (both stays we had 2 twin rooms), and while dinner at the restaurant was quite good (the steak was great!), the breakfast was truly awful. We didn't have the buffet option, but rather went a la carte. The French toast, "Baker's Plate", and two lots of eggs Benedict were really bad. Having said this, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Millennium again. We would just walk down the road and have breakfast at Halo Forbidden Bite.

The Millennium Hotel was a disappointment on our trip to New Zealand to celebrate our honeymoon this December. For the price that we paid (over $400 NZD) for one night, we expected much more. The room was decently clean, but had stains on the wallpaper and was dingy overall. Our room was also extremely small. We had a view of the street and parking lot. The shower pressure was uneven and would change temperature without touching the tap during the shower. Unfortunately there was really nothing redeeming about this stay. If I ever return to Queenstown, I would not waste my money here.

After organizing a long road trip and booking accommodation well in advance for the Christmas season, a week into our trip we had a very personal incident and had to drastically change our plans. Out of 11 bookings , others of which also had a no cancellation policy, this large chain hotel, in the most sort after area in NZ, was the only one to not refund ( even partially) our payment. They happily cancelled our 1 night ,but would have made twice the room rate as a friend called an hour after cancellation and it was rebooked. So $370 from me and then whatever exorbitant rate pre new years eve.
I didn't mind paying a reasonable cancellation fee, and if the property would have had an issue rebooking for that night I would understand. But this is a lack of integrity in business, no discussion, no apology just point blank refusal in 3 conversations.
Interestingly also the only property to take the full room rate out immediately on booking in October.
All about the money?

Rooms were adequate but dated! We had to book two rooms as we were a party of 4 but the biggest turnoff was the mold in the vent above bathroom sink and thus was in both our rooms!
Manager was notified. Hopefully they take quick action as this is unsafe for those with allergies!!
The only good thing was close location to the restaurants and city!
