We stayed here for two nights whilst exploring Queenstown, an area of New Zealand that we liked very much. The hotel was in a great location facing the lake and only ten to fifteen minutes walk from the town centre, albeit rather hilly for us oldies! Good undercover parking too. We checked in and went to our room which was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Big balcony but unfortunately the weather was terrible with torrential rain so we didn’t get to use that much. On the first night we decided to have a drink and meal in the hotel rather than venture out in the rain. It was then we met the disorganisation of this hotel management. The bar ran out of beers after the second drink, staff advised us that we would not need to book in the restaurant, then advised us shortly afterwards that it was now fully booked. When we eventually made our own way up there to check there was only four people in the whole restaurant! But the meal was terrible, totally different to the menu description, and subsequent breakfasts were the same - uncleaned tables, hardly any food left, dirty floors with spillages etc unattended to, you name it. Shame as the hotel has huge potential but needs to get in an organised, resourceful and timely management team to sort it all out! Hats off to ‘Reecy’ (apologies for spelling) who worked relentlessly hard to sort it all out and help us, worth her weight in gold but the only staff member of note.
