We stayed here for two nights whilst exploring Queenstown, an area of New Zealand that we liked very much. The hotel was in a great location facing the lake and only ten to fifteen minutes walk from the town centre, albeit rather hilly for us oldies! Good undercover parking too. We checked in and went to our room which was very nice, spacious and comfortable. Big balcony but unfortunately the weather was terrible with torrential rain so we didn’t get to use that much. On the first night we decided to have a drink and meal in the hotel rather than venture out in the rain. It was then we met the disorganisation of this hotel management. The bar ran out of beers after the second drink, staff advised us that we would not need to book in the restaurant, then advised us shortly afterwards that it was now fully booked. When we eventually made our own way up there to check there was only four people in the whole restaurant! But the meal was terrible, totally different to the menu description, and subsequent breakfasts were the same - uncleaned tables, hardly any food left, dirty floors with spillages etc unattended to, you name it. Shame as the hotel has huge potential but needs to get in an organised, resourceful and timely management team to sort it all out! Hats off to ‘Reecy’ (apologies for spelling) who worked relentlessly hard to sort it all out and help us, worth her weight in gold but the only staff member of note.

I stayed for 4 nights with my wife daughter and son in law. Was very happy with the apartment. It was on split level with living area and kitchenette on lower level with a balcony overlooking the main road and lake while the bedrooms were on top floor- The apartment was well equipped and comfortable. i is well located just outside the main city center. Free wifi and parking for guests. It has a dining area and a bar cum coffee shop.Gym and Jacuzzi available for guests.
The housekeeping was also good but it can be speeded up...room cleaning went beyond 3 pm. Overall good facilities and happy to stay.

About a 10-min walk out of town on the main highway, so some traffic noise. Lake views on the first floor are largely hidden by shrubbery and buildings across the street. Rather awkward outside verandas. No lamps on the bedside table, only harsh ceiling fixtures. But the staff is cheerful and tries to be accommodating. And the food is quite good. Wi-fi is mainly OK.

We paid for a lake view and it was lovely, with a balcony to sit out. The balcony had no shelter though so not really conducive to use. The room was comfortable but fairly basic and utilitarian. Parking free and easy to walk into town.

Having stayed in Copthorne hotels elsewhere in the world I have always thought they were solid 4*. This one however badly needs a makeover and was a bit of a letdown. Rooms are large and view of the lake is great, however this is marred by the very busy road outside and the large timber rail on the balcony which prevents you sitting and looking out over the lake from a chair. OK for a couple of nights but wouldn’t recommend for any longer unfortunately.
