STAY AWAY.
Many reviews are about the staff, in particular Patrick. I do agree that he is a great asset and is a wonderful person who tries hard, but he simply cannot run a hotel by himself. This is supposed to be a 5-star luxury hotel and it's nowhere close.
The hotel is now in "receivership" (bankruptcy) due to the tragic and sudden death of the owner. As a result, the hotel has VERY minimal staff, who definitely try hard, but cannot provide the type of service that they are charging for.
Many things in our room did not function as expected and the hotel clearly does not have the financial means or basic staff for upkeep. When I arrived, the bathroom door had no handle so the door could not be closed. They had go somewhere to find one and install it (!).
This hotel is no longer a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World Program because, I presume, it could not maintain anywhere the standard required to be a member of that program.
The connecting room my kids stayed in had no windows, which is pretty shocking for a 5-star hotel.
The main room and hallway had several bright lights that could not be turned off.
For days, the gym (which is the size of a small bathroom) was never serviced or cleaned.
I could go on, but I definitely feel ripped off by this experience and this hotel.
