Real tours bus seat allocations

New Zealand is a wonderful tour destination for people from all over the world. Unfortunately Real Tours couch travel still utilises a somewhat archaic seating system . They do ask for feedback on service so here we go.

Couples who travel from offshore, book coach travel, often months in advance, sometimes for trips in excess of four hours duration should, surely be able to expect to sit next to each other ?????? In this time of coputerisation and smartphones it's not to hard to organise and no one is disadvantaged

Example 60 seat coach trip from Queenstown to Milford sound via Te Anau. 50 board bus from Queenstown and all spread out along windows. Five couples board in Te Anau and none can sit with their partners . A pretty crappy outcome for a trip booked months in advance .

Solution - allow people to book double seating !!! This coach was fully booked and real tours new 10 people were getting on in Te Anau . Simple solution would have been to place reserved seating signs on 5 doubles seats- at Queenstown ??? Or rope of area - this is done in Australia and works very well . It is a simple solution of course the best solution would be to ticket seats much like an airline does .

This way people know what they are getting when they book and people are not cranky and upset .

Alternatively there could be a small fee to ensure a double seat I'm sure couples would pay (I would) .

I'm not saying people should be able to choose front or back or windows or aisles I know this would introduce other booking complexities but surely in the interests of good customer service - Real Tours should have in place a mechanism that enables a couple on holidays from overseas (and booking months in advance) to sit next to each other on long coach trips - surely this is not to much to ask !!!!!!!

I might also point out that there were arguments over seating on several of the coach trips we took and only once was the driver involved - so maybe this is a hidden problem - be it so or be it not - it needs to be addressed

We took a real journeys bus to cardrona. Just want to give a quick special mention to our bus driver Chris from bus 108. He was so helpful and just an overall legend. Gave us plenty of information about Queenstown and the ski fields along with his awesome personality. Legend!

We caught the TSS Earnslaw across the lake (about 45 mins) and then had the gourmet BBQ lunch. The trip across was great, the kids loved exploring the steamer. When we arrived then lunch was well organized and there was plenty of great food. There's lots of meat options (chicken, beef, lamb and sausages) plus lots of veggies and salad. They do clear out the restaurant pretty quickly after lunch to head people over to the sheep shearing demo. Overall it was fun and the food was great. I'm not sure we would do it again but it was a good way to spend an afternoon.
