We booked a package, jet boat and a Helicopter flight, it was unbelievable, Keith our pilot was fantastic, and the landing on top of the mountains in the snow was something we shall never forget. We were picked up taken to the Airport briefed, and off we went, amazing views stunning scenery, the flight was brilliant the landing even better, something you see on TV but never thought you would do, so anyone in Queenstown on holiday do it.

The pilot Jeremy was amazing, and the ride to Tindell Glacier was an experience in flying through the Skippers Canyon and back down through the Shotover ...
The trip, the flight and the landing on the Glacier , was so good !

This was a truly amazing flight and I still can't quite believe I stood on a glacier 7,000-feet high in minus-8 degrees Celsius.
I would never have done this but for my sister, who loves flying of all kinds, particularly in helicopters. She adored every second of it as we soared very high above the Shotover River and the jagged snow-capped peaks of Mt Aspiring National Park.
Our excellent pilot told us we were doing 200km/h+ but you'd never have guessed. He was fantastic, telling us not only about landmarks and answering questions, but also avoiding rough weather and preparing and reassuring us when we did have a few little brief bumps as we passed through mountain-generated air currents.
There were 5 passengers in all, one up front and four in the back, with the upfront occupant changing at the glacier stop. The views were good -- I was sitting in the back, one in from the window, and could see very well out of both the side windows and ahead through the two front seats.
I am a nervous flyer. I genuinely thought I'd be okay, but even though I had absolute confidence in the pilot and I knew that the company's safety record is spotless, I found that at some points I just had to close my eyes. I know this will seem crazy to many people, but I just couldn't keep my heart-rate down as we passed above mountains with sudden drop-offs to valleys thousands of feet below. My sister, on the other hand, could have kept going all day. (At the end of it, I decided that I'll probably sit the next heli ride out and let her enjoy it alone. These are not cheap experiences -- don't get me wrong, the cost is 100% justified, given the equipment and skill -- but I did feel guilty for not being able to properly lap it up. I mention this in case it's useful to those who also feel nervous and are vacillating about whether to accompany a keen flyer.)
The glacier stop was good, coming about 30 minutes in to the 50-minute flight. We got to walk around a little bit and take photos. The pilot also took a shot of each group together with our own phones, then also took one with his.
When we came back into the terminal, a copy of the photo the pilot's own shot of each group was already there, printed up nicely in souvenir presentation folders for sale at NZ$20 each. I normally wouldn't buy this kind of thing, but it made a nice little immediate thank you to my sister, and the money goes, I believe, to the pilot, so I was happy to do it.
In terms of logistics it was all smooth and good -- we were picked up at our hotel by cab and dropped back where we wanted to go (in one passenger's case, in town) by mini-bus. They're a great company.

Wow! Thank you so much for such an extensive review. Very informative and it is lovely to see you personality coming through.
So pleased you enjoyed the experiences (even the ones where you had to close your eyes!).
It is special to share such memorable times with whanua (family).
Nga mihi nui (thank you very much).
Warm regards

This is a great way to take in the vastness of NZ South Island terrain. Our flight involved two stops, one on top of a glacier and the next a grassed mountain. Our pilot Chris was great in explaining the scenery and pointing out locations that featured in the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy. Our driver Darren who shuttled us to and from our accommodation to the flight was also fantastic giving some good advice for other things that we could do while in NZ.

Thanks so much about your comments regarding Chris and Darren. :-)
Enjoy the rest of your visit.

I had a great time! The weather was perfect and the pilot we were flying with was very kind and gave us great information on the scenery. Totally worth it, specially for the glacier landing!
