I booked a twin room for 3 nights at Absoloot Value hostel for Dec 2016 many months in advance.
By Queenstown standards, this was the least priced private room with ensuite bathroom, centrally located, that I could find.

The location can't be beat, the staff is efficient and helpful. WiFi is free.
There is an elevator.
The room was well appointed, with a small fridge, kettle and microwave, TV, A/C. The windows have nice shutters to block the light.
There is also a couch.
The room is large enough, so IMO it could be re-arranged a little better. For example, the microwave on top of the fridge, and the small TV at a bad angle to watch from the bed could be better placed. These are minor things though.

The only 2 real negatives:
1. The bed sheets were dirty and stained. Fortunately I travel with my own, especially in hostels.
2. The bathroom is tiny, the size of a closet - no exaggeration.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have better views, and are probably quieter.

Chose this hostel after hearing someone say comment on the great value and environment. Did not regret my decision and decided to stay a second time after a few weeks.

Rooms and en-suite toilets were clean and tidy - of course, this depends on your room mates as well. Really love the view of the lake and town from the kitchen. It's great that the facilities and utensils in the kitchen were also clean and well-maintained. You don't always get this in other hostels. Also love that there was a charging outlet and reading light at each bed. There was also a mini-fridge in the room.

Only complaints might be the unstable wifi. Also, I decided to start my day slightly later on one day, and the housekeeping team came into the room without knocking - and they came in more than 3 times that same morning as each staff/team had different roles. Should organise and finish the room at one go instead of disturbing the guest multiple times.

The hostel is very quiet for a hostel located directly in Queenstown which was very cool. It was very clean too. Fresh Towel everyday was amazing. Free Wifi but slow connection. Helpfull Staff aswell. Only Negatives for me were the Kitchen which is not bad but way to small for the amount of people. Best to avoid busy times. Beds were a bit unstable.

Excellent Hostel. Good prices for accommodations, bathrooms were very clean, also the rooms. Staff was very cheerfully and helpfully,
Amazing view from the lake when you was at the kitchen. The only negative point was the internet, but who cares.

Room Tip: Picked uo the mixed 6 dorms, has a bathroom in it.

We booked this as we wanted a very central location in Queenstown so that we could walk easily around the central area. The price suggested that it was budget but we were pleased, it exceeded expectations. The room was compact but very clean with a little en-suite and windows overlooking the town. The windows were double glazed and had internal shutters to make the room dark. We slept well, maybe the kg of fresh cherries that we ate during the day helped! There is a great shared kitchen but also a microwave and fridge in the room. The staff were very friendly and always happy to help in any way.
