We headed her for some cocktails and tapas. Both were great. If you like ginger beer try the Eichardt’s Mule cocktail.

The tapas were delicious we enjoyed the croquettes and lamb cutlets. Hot tapas are served until 10pm.

We went fairly late so we were the only ones in the place so it lacked a little atmosphere but we got speedy service!

Early on a chilly spring morning, what could be better than settling yourself in front of a cozy fireplace for a delicious, generously portioned, very fresh Eichardt's breakfast? Come early enough and you'll likely have a peaceful, relaxing, rather private time to enjoy the wonderful food, charming atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. That's how it went for us. What a great way to start the day in Queenstown!

We came here twice in four days, the other two taking us too far afield to manage it, or we could have been new "best friends" with the smiling, personable staff. The egg dishes, besides warming us, were very well prepared, very fresh and tasty, and filling enough for us to skip lunch entirely. We loved the warm, well-designed interior and the bright exterior views of bay and mountains through the front window.

I've posted some pictures of our mouthwatering breakfasts: Eggs Benedict with Spinach, Spicy Chorizo Hash, Havoc Free-Range Bacon with Poached Eggs, and absolutely the best Bloody Marys you'll find hereabouts.

But it's the total package that appeals: great food, ambience, and service, in a fine old but pleasantly updated building delightfully located right on the waterfront.

#1 breakfast stop in Queenstown IMHO. Highly recommended.

Take a historical hotel, add a million dollar location, sprinkle very professional staff, a great beverage and tapas menu with a fireplace and leather chairs and you have a home away from home.

We met a local friend for drinks and stayed for hours. Enjoyable food to compliment your experience. I had the Pinot Noir flight taster and it was a wonderful trip around the Central Otago NZ wineries. This small bar was so enjoyable I can’t wait to come back.

This place is filled with character, history and class. The staff is knowledgeable and the service is stellar. The drinks are fun and unique as well. The wines are mostly from New Zealand too. We ordered a flight of the Pinot Noir and a Hawkes Bay Chardonnay. Both were excellent. The cozy tables and fireplace were perfect for the two of us. We never felt rushed and the staff made us feel right at home. The leather seats and benches are really comfortable. There are only a few tables so be sure to get there early. The view of the lake from the windows is really prime real estate. You can tell this place has seen some fun nights. We ordered 4 tapas including the sourdough bread, lamb, beef brisket bun and squid ink tempura calamari. The best of the bunch were the calamari and the lamb for us! Great spot!

Ladies, all I need to say is say is: Bollinger by the glass, or half-bottle, or bottle even! Hubby had a tasting of 3 single malts before working his way through the excellent NZ wine list.
Needless to say, the drinks were excellent. Do try the Lady Violette on the cocktail list - lavender infused gin - very pretty and lovely!
We had the three-course shared tapas menu for 2; brilliant at $50 each, and we added the ‘signature chowder’ for obvious reasons. The portions were perfect, which is not always the case for tapas menus, and the food was very good. I especially liked the way we were given time between courses.
The atmosphere was cosy with a framed view over the lake, and for once in New Zealand, the soundtrack was not 80s tunes, but more chilled modern cocktail/lounge music. (Don’t get me wrong, I love the 80s, but enough is enough!)
The service was great too - who doesn’t love a flirty British waiter with lots of knowledge and a great smile?!
It was nice to find a classy corner with a chilled vibe amongst all the touristy clamour of Queenstown.
