Muskets and Moonshine
Ranked #9 of 265 Restaurants in Queenstown
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$11 - US$21
Description: Southern BBQ Bar with Southern USA inspired food, cocktails, great beer, and of course MOONSHINE! The menu at M&M is as quirky as its decor, serving real Southern BBQ cooked the authentic way over wood smoke for hours on end. A relaxed BBQ Bar atmosphere, where you order and pay at the bar and you can build your own BBQ plate; selecting your favourite meat, adding some yummy sides and moreish sauces. Alternatively go for their characterful Jambalaya, a bold dish with spicy rice, shrimp and pork belly or their Gumbo, a traditional Louisiana broth full jam-packed with seafood. You won’t find another place like this in Queenstown! Just like its name, everything about this place is playful and fun. Chairs come in a gorgeous muddle of different shapes and sizes and chandeliers hang from the ceiling whilst the big game is being shown on the big screen. And it wouldn’t be complete without its roaring fire and live acoustic music through the weekends.

Ate here last night with my wife and two year old. Food and service were superb and the welcome so friendly. I highly recommend the brisket! Just delicious.

Terrific food - we ordered a platter for 2 and nearly died of over eating, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything was drool worthy. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was fantastic. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Qtown!

We went there in 2018 and it was AMAZING!!! Since then there is a lot less to choose from (mainly burgers). They were delicious but was just a bit disappointed. Service was fantastic. Only other complaint I’d make was the kids menu was hugely overpriced for what it was.

A group of five of us visited on 2 January. We l initially came in because we saw the cheap prices for the cocktails ($10 espresso martinis!). Because of the price, we didn’t expect them to be anything special. But they were delicious! What was most impressive though was the service we had from Drew (I think that was her name? Brunette British girl). She was funny and chatty, explained the cocktail menu, and also offered to make us anything off the menu that we felt like. The sunshine spritz and the moonshine sour were also really delicious. Would definitely visit again.
