Absolutely charming cottage - stay here!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Aug 2014
My partner Max and I have just returned from a truly wonderful stay at Orchard Cottage.

We were warmly welcomed by the lovely Jane and Roger who made our stay as enjoyable and relaxing as any stay away from home could possibly be!

The cottage has everything you could possibly need. We cooked in for two nights and ate out for two nights too, so it was just perfect. The cottage is located in an absolutely stunning rural location - views of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables which is literally breathtaking.

We went for a ski trip and had 3 fantastic days of skiing. We would strongly recommend staying here for easy access to and from the airport, 3 major ski fields, supermarket and Queenstown. It was literally a dream holiday and we didn't want to leave!

Jane and Roger are the best hosts ever, the place is simply stunning, couldn't recommend it enough! Get out there and enjoy the peaceful scenery!

Thanks for everything and for making our stay so special! We will definitely be back, we love it!

Very close to Arrowtown where there are gorgeous little shops and cafes and restaurants. We chose to eat out in Queenstown but you could easily go for dinner in Arrowtown too which is so close by.

The skiing was fantastic too - we loved Coronet Peak which is literally only 30 mins from the cottage! AMAZING! Try the night skiing there, was awesome fun!

Orchard cottage is a magical place and Jane the owner and host is probably the most thoughtful person in the world. We stayed here for two nights with our two kids and absolutely loved it. I would give it 6 stars if I could!

There are two bedrooms which are connected to each other (access to the second bedroom is through the first) so this may not work for two couples - but worked perfectly for our family.

Everything was in perfect order, spotlessly clean and beautifully setup. Jane had baked home made blueberry muffins for us. They were delicious! There was milk in the fridge and juices and lollipops for each of the kids. Jane had thoughtfully left two stamped postcards on the kitchen counter - to make it easy for kids to write postcards. There is a range of teas and coffee available in the kitchen.

Through the kitchen door is a beautiful little garden with beautiful outdoor furniture. The surroundings are a picture perfect rural setting. It is also convenient as it is about a 15minute drive from the centre of Queenstown.

Jane also allowed us a late checkout on the day we were leaving, as she did not have the place booked for that evening.

We wished we did not have so much sightseeing planned in Queenstown as we just wanted to chill out in this beautiful house. We will definitely be back next time we are in New Zealand!

Don't miss out on this fabulous accommodation. We came here 5 years ago and it was our first choice when we decided to return to Queenstown. The cottage is set near Lake Hayes away from commercial noise but only minutes from Arrowtown and about 15 minutes drive from Queenstown. The spacious cottage is set in a beautiful garden setting with views of the mountains. The cottage is just as shown in the photos although there are some extra thoughtful touches. The beds are very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped, in fact the cottage has everything you could ask for. The cottage has changed hands since we last stayed here but the owners are just as helpful and hospitable. We'll be staying here again in a couple of weeks. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Room tip: If you can't rent the cottage try the bed and breakfast room at the main house.

This cottage offers an island of comfort and tranquillity after - or instead of - enjoying the hustle and bustle of nearby Queenstown and Arrowtown. It is beautifully furnished and equipped, and in our case came with a welcoming tin of home-baked muffins.

The owners couldn't be more welcoming and helpful.

What a find this was! Very comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings with spectacular views. There are cats and tame sheep. The owners were very helpful, letting us use their phone to book activities etc. The cottage is nearer to Arrowtown than Queenstown.
