Stay one night for the Queenstown Marathon, group of 3. Perfect walking distance from the heart of Queenstown. Right by the Lake :) Very clean, nice bed, great shower!! We arrived early, the room was free so we were able to drop off our bags an explore. I definitely recommend this Motel. There was one small negative, the bathroom window opens right into some kind of hallway which is odd...

The small hallway behind the ground floor studios is mainly for staff to access our storerooms; although there is also a guest laundry room should you come back again and require it.

While the view from this motel is wonderful and it is conveniently situated we did experience a few problems. The windows facing the lake were curtained but a translucent window in the kitchen and the one in the bathroom had no blinds. A passageway that the staff used to get to the laundry ran along the back of our room- a studio on the ground floor. We had a rather uncomfortable night as a light shone in through the kitchen window which made it very difficult to get to sleep. We also felt uncomfortable in the bathroom as we could see people passing the window and wondered if they could see us. The bathroom has been refurbished but there were no rails to hang our towels. Our mattress was over-due for replacement.
You can’t beat this location- looking straight out over the lake with everything you could possibly want in easy walking distance. Spacious comfortable accommodation with renovated bathroom made this even better value than my previous trip 2 years ago. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Queenstown . Below is the actual lake view from my room
Well what can I say. If it wasn't for the lovely helpful staff and the incredible views this is not a place I'd be rushing back to straight away. Pluses then are the location ~ right on the bay and a stones throw into town, literally minutes away. Another positive was that the bathroom was decent. I wasn't bothered about how cheap it was, that in itself wasn't our priority. I just wanted something decent and a place I could park up the car for a couple of days and something with views seemed few and far between. That in itself fitted the bill here, but alas cold comfort everywhere else. So the negatives. The rest of the place was dated. The freezer door was off and everything that was stored in the fridge thereafter froze solid. The TV only had four channels and when three of them were news and the fourth a kid's channel there wasn't a lot to choose from. When I enquired about this I was told that had we had booked 'the owners' apartments next door more channels are provided'. So it was kindly offered that I might like to look at their videos on offer. Not wanting to moan, truly I wasn't, I quickly agreed. I then fetched my catch back only to find we were the only room wihtout a video player. So again and out of kindness of her heart, off went our young lady to try and locate us one. Said catch caught again she too returned victorious ~ only to find it didn't work. By this time we were just getting a bit fed up but again trying to assist the young lady said she would get in touch with the manager. As we looked around the decor, the bed, the lumpy pillow that was better suited to a student sqwat and then the electric extension with an old fashioned electric fire (which went out the ark here in the UK donkey's years ago guys and would be classed as a definite safety risk to public now) we were left with the feeling that here were owners that were stacking and packing you in order to make a fast buck without that much of a consideration for their guests' comforts and were reliant on the good will of their staff to win them through. Outside was like being back in Beijing where old sofas were dumped on the walkway for you in full view. When I went down to what I thought was the office with my frozen milk in hand I knocked on the door that said 'Private' only to find a poor Chinese family had rented this place out! Well all I can say is their place made ours look like heaven ~ So when said manager arrived and said 'well I can go to the Warehouse and get you a VPlayer but it will take me a hr or you can wait until the morning' we replied no thankyou we'd prefer it if you could supply us with something this evening. Off she went only to return 20mins later with said 'working' equipment in hand. On the day we left we thanked the girl on the reception desk and said how much we appreciated all the help her colleague gave us the day before. So owners ~ your staff are a credit to you but you're overlooking the basics in terms of safety ('ditch the electric fires and the extension leads asap!') and comfort. I'd rather pay more and have better....sorry.
Avoid this place at all costs! The photos are misleading. It was the most terrible place I have ever stayed. There was no security and I woke up in the middle of the night and 3 people who looked homeless were sleeping on the Everything was bad. Our beds were not even made and the garbage can was full! The staff are rude and just sit on their phones. The place is disgusting and dirty
