Akarua has an absolutely stunning setting, it’s gorgeous. We had a few mixed reviews at the table regarding food, the apple cider sausages weren’t worth it but the waffles, French toast and granola were raved about! Coffee was excellent and the service we received was great. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in for coffee on Saturday around 11am. We were warned it was a 20 minute wait for coffee. Left. Tried again for breakfast the next day.
Better success but still a VERY long wait for food (coffee was prompt this time).

The food is out of this world. The wine tasting was superlative. The service is great except there are far too few cooking/ serving/ barista-ing/ wine tasting.
Gorgeous breakfast of poached egg (singular) with avocado (three at the table) took 45 minutes from ordering.
It was pricey but the garden was lovely and the food could not be faulted (except that we were so hungry by the time the food came we should have ordered more). The car park is too small so we had to park on the road.
Would love to return but the waiting times need to be sorted before that happens
I've rated the service low only despite the poor staff being run off their feet and having to deal with moaning customers they were EXCELLENT. The slowness of the service is what I am rating so poorly.

The ambience of the place is great, pretty garden setting. Food is good too but portions are the tiniest ones we encountered in New Zealand.

I could not rave highly enough about Akarua - after struggling to find a spot for our 14 person lunch without a massive booking fee, Akarua was such a breath of fresh air, they were so accomodating and lovely to organise my special lunch with.

I wouldn't even bother with looking anywhere else - everything you could ever need is right here. Best wine, food and location! I cannot rave enough.

Rain or shine this is just such a neat place to come especially for lunch on a beautiful blue bird day. Trees and mountains surround the courtyard tables which makes for a pretty setting. We have just returned from 4 days in QTN and would quite happily have eaten here every day. Try the shared plates and definitely the RUA Rose.
