My mum and I recently visited Queenstown, and joined a half day Arrowrown tour with Remarkable Scenic Tours, as we didn't have access to a car. We were picked up by husband and wife duo Wayne and Kathy, who were extremely friendly and professional, and had incredible local knowledge (Wayne grew up in NZ).

We had such a great time in picturesque Arrowtown, that we decided to do another full day tour with Wayne, that he was kind enough to customize based on what we liked. We were then able to explore some more 'local' towns, amazing wineries, cheese shops, chocolate shops, bungee/zip line, and even the snow!

My mum and I sincerely recommend Remarkable Scenic Tours for anyone looking to explore New Zealand a little more beyond the standard tourist traps.

Thanks again Kathy and Wayne - we'll see you next time!

Our day started off on time. Greeted by Cathy we were promptly on our way toward Arrowtown to enjoy the sights on a beautiful morning. Our guide had a great passion for the environment and an extensive history of the area. Any questions you may have are of no problem and are answered honestly. Plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The trip duration is sufficient time and you are taken around the town first to learn a bit about the town and what it has to offer before you have the opportunity to enjoy the area yourself. Enjoyed a little morning tea and visited some fantastic novelty shops unique to Arrowtown. The Chinese village is a must see and gives you an insight to the history of gold panning and the raw truth about the people who resided here during the 1800s. The tour offers an 11 seater vehicle and is perfect for those wanting something more personal. I would recommend this company for those wanting a seamless visit to Arrowtown without the hassles of waiting for buses etc and people visiting briefly wanting to fit more in their day. Our driver on the way back was equally as informative . Shared a lot of laughs with these guides and would definitely hope others do too. The morning we went was incredible. It snowed the evening before and we were left with a Winter Wonderland. Awesome I can imagine any season of the year. A must do. Thank you for this experience. I wish we had heard of this company earlier to take advantage of the full day tour to Cardona Hotel and Wanaka. Perhaps in the future. All the best.

I was delighted that although I was the only one on the tour due to an additional group pulling out, the trip still went ahead. The landscape was stunning and Wayne (my guide) was very knowledgeable. We stopped to take photos of the lake on the way and after a fascinating guided tour of Arrowtown I had plenty of time to walk beside the river, visit the Chinese camp, take photos, visit the shops and buy a cup of tea! I would definitely recommend this tour for all ages. Lots to see and learn about.

The half day tour starts at 12.30h at the station building and the tour end at around 17h. Everyone who is interested in ENJOYING a drink is definitive on the right tour. It’s NOT about getting drunk, it’s about learning more about beers, spirits and the lovely area between Queenstown and Cardrona. The first stop is at the Fork and The Tap a charming ale house in the centre of Arrowtown. We had 4 different kinds of beer - well explained by the waitress - and a pizza to line our stomachs. (vegetarian options available on request) After the first taste we went to Cardrona Destillery, stopping at a fantastic look out on the Crown Range. (nice photos guaranteed) The Cardrona Destillery is open since January 2016, family owned and known for its ‘The Reed’ Vodka and ‘Rose Rabbit’ Orange Liqueur – of course you get a taste and a very informative tour through the distillery. (at the moment they are working to produce Whisky and Gin, can’t wait for that.) Before we drove back to Queenstown we stopped at Famous Cardrona Hotel. (The hotel was built in 1863 and is just beautiful. Lovely garden area, cosy pub and my favourite beer on the tour.) Last stop back in Queenstown: The Crafty Smith. 18 different beers on tap and 6 different for us to taste. Wow. For everyone who hasn’t had enough tasting yet can stay in the bar longer and enjoy a few more glasses, it’s open choice to leave or stay.

The guides: Wayne and Kathy are lovely, very informative and even if you are joining the group by yourself you feel never lost and lonely.

The bus: Small van with max. 10 pax. Make sure you come in time to grab a seat at the window and have the best view of that fantastic landscape.
