We went here with high expectations as was rated one of the best places to eat in Invercargill. We were left disappointed. While I could not fault the service or the over atmosphere of the restaurant, the food was pretty average. There was no flavour, the meat was unseasoned and poorly cooked. The sides were not what I’d expect plain mash potatoes, grilled tomato. My husband got broccoli (plain boiled), some carrots and peas. The meals were $40 each.

Have been here multiple times as a couple/business/family. It doesn’t matter if you have tried the food before, it’s a wow factor every time. Fine dining but with good sized meals - normally it’s one or the other. You won’t be disappointed!

We rang to book early Saturday afternoon and got the last table but had to be there at six. As we are travelling around the South Island this wasn’t a problem but you should book. The restaurant is upstairs in an old house and nicely done. It is elegant but relaxed.
I had the prawns with Pernod as an entree-beautifully cooked plump prawns in a delicate sauce on risotto. We both relished our sous vide blue cod and my partner loved his Black Forest sundae. The service was very good-efficient, attentive and never pushy or intrusive. Nice selection of wines too. If we didn’t live in Mount Maunganui we’d happily be regulars!

A while since I had been here but last nights meal with friends was absolutely excellent. I opted for two entrees to come out a same time as main meals of the group. Good choice as each was delicious. All at our table raved at the mashed potato, best ever said one world traveller! Most particularly our server was a true professional. Never have I found such professionalism (altough other occasions at 148 were the same) This lady is exceptional. I urge you to choose this restaurant because you will not be disappointed!

Very lovely entree (hoisin chicken) and meal, topped off with a very fulfilling cocktail. Lovely atmosphere and awesome to chat with the chef
