Hi it was a busy night at Saucy chef on Saturday and I'm not sure the staff were quite able to cope with that. We had a few hiccups i.e. one in our party did not get his entree and we asked for some tomato sauce to go with the chips but we are still waiting for that. Two of us ordered the chicken salad, the chicken was dry and the salad was minuscule, not good value for money. On the other hand I had the seafood chowder which was the best chowder that I have ever had.

We went to TSC for an early dinner after a weekend in the Catlins and the food - Southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes for me, and duck for my companion - was fresh tasty, hot and delicious. But what made the restaurant one we cant wait to return to was to lovely service which was attentive but relaxed. The bread and garlic butter would feed a family of four, and our server happily parclled it up for us to have for breakfast next morning (and it was delicious). If youre in the locale, pop in. In fact, it might even be worth a detour for, cos you wont find quality service and value like this in many places.

Hubby had the beef checks and he said they were yummy. I had the fish special for the night lemon pepper sole with shrimp; it was delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We have dinner at The Saucy Chef during an overnight visit to Invercargill. We are so glad we did. The food was great with some unusual, but delightfully subtle flavours. We had Lemon Sole fish with prawns and rice infused with strands of coconut. Superb! And for dessert we had backed apple with vegan ice cream with Miso caramel sauce. We really don’t like Miso but this dish was awesome. We loved it. And to top it all off the restaurant was cosy and quiet and the service was friendly and attentive. Well done The Saucy Chef. We hope to see you on our next visit to Invercargill.
