Christchurch to Invercargil is a rather long drive. Knowing that we will be going to this restaurant is always a focus to shorten the trip.
Amazingly diverse menu that delivers top flavours and choice.
A must if you have ventured down south.

The Saucy Chef was recommended to us by our hotel. It was within walking distance and pleased we dined there. We had chowder and fish of the day - both delicious and no room for sweeties! Meal sizes are very big! Good wine selection too. Service was excellent.

Hi Luxgb,

Thanks for taking the time to review us on Trip Advisor, we are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your evening with us, I have to agree the Fish of the Day and Seafood Chowder are both very wholesome popular dishes.
Hope to see you again soon.

Amazing meals, well satisfied with 4 out of 4 meals. We had the baked salmon, beer battered blue cod, southern style fried chicken and the goat shank. Also had the Eton mess and raspberry & white chocolate mud cake with sorbet for desserts, both of which were lovely and not overly sweet. Attentive and friendly staff.

The staff at this restaurant need proper training. Being constantly referred to as "youus", an uneducated version of referring to the customer, is very wrong and down grades the restaurant. The menu is very comprehensive. Unfortunately the only meal that delivered was the seafood chowder. The squid, the surf and turf, the beefalo steak and the vegetarian meal were all very basic. The whole place is very 1980's.
