Bad weather kept us stranded on Stewart island , 60 knots of wind however the staff at the terminal kept us informed and did their best to keep us up to date with what was going on.
We eventually left at 6pm instead of 130pm .
The ground staff and pilot are the best.

Before you catch the ferry, do the maths and work out which comes out better, if it's even close, take the flight! Roll into town like a rock star and get some amazing vistas and encompassing understanding and layout of the island and Foveaux Straight. And there's not many roads on the island to worry about! We walked about town and the sights without a worry.

Tiny little plane for a 15 min flight. Be aware that it is weather dependent, we were delayed by fog even in summer. Great scenic little flight. Ground staff at Invercargill were good, ground staff in Stewart Island less so, not exactly friendly.

This is only a 15 minutes flight from Stewart Island to Invercargill. Amazing few of Stewart island and the size of its natural habitat. Great service

Stewart Island Air organised a full day tour for us including flights to and from Invercargill, guided tour of Stewart Island and a trip to Ulva Island for a walking tour looking at the incredible scenery and bird life Scary little planes but pilots were sensational including an extra flight over Stewart Island to see more from the air
