We arranged our tour through a private website called Shore Trips & Tours as we were travelling around New Zealand on the Dawn Princess. There were four people in our group and Mark met us in the arrival centre when we disembarked the ship. There was one other couple on our tour which made for a lovely day. The directions to meet Mark were clear and well communicated.
We started our tour with a drive into the centre of Dunedin with Mark pointing out out places of interest and giving us information regarding the city. We then had free time downtown which enabled us to look around, buy some souvenirs (including chocolate at the Cadbury Chocolate factory) and take photos. He then drove us down to the historic Dunedin Railway Station and we were able to have a look about. The original mosaic floor was beautiful and the gardens outside the station were lovely. Mark then drove us up to Larnach Castle giving us the history of the Castle and it's owner on the way up. The story of the Castle is fascinating as is the place itself and it was well worth a visit. The gardens around the Castle were stunning.
Mark then drove us to Portabello and took us to the pub for lunch (at our own cost). We were all well pleased with the food.
Our next stop was Nature's Wonder stopping along the way to see Albatross and taking in views of the city. When we arrived at Nature's Wonder we were taken by Martin to see seals (many as young as 10 weeks) and penguins (some which were nesting). This was a real highlight of our day.
Mark then drove us back towards our ship driving through the University and stopping at Baldwin Street, the steepest street in the world. Mark returned us with plenty of time before our ship set sail.
Our party of four really enjoyed the day and Mark was friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
