We took this tour off Celebrity Solstice with a group of 10...
Marina was knowledgeable, and lovely to spend the day with.
We drove through Dunedin, saw the steepest street, and got a look at the town.
Off to the Royal Albatross Center
An informative talk before we climbed to the lookout! We were fortunate to see several Albatross flying as well as some sitting with their baby chicks... this is a must- do when in Dunedin!
After lunch at the center- Marina reserved a table- off to Natures Wonders... a nature preserve privately owned by the Reid Family! Perry Reid, the patriarch of the family, and his grandson, took us by his mini- bus to see fur seals, a penguin nest- no adults visible... private beaches for nature only!! No humans allowed.
An incredible adventure... a little walk around Dunedin and back to the ship!
Great guide, excellent venues!

We had booked our tour online, and Mark informed us at booking that he personally would not be our guide as he was booked on our date (Jan. 30, 2017), but that he would have another guide for us that day.
When we disembarked the Celebrity Solstice at Dunedin we walked into the arrival hall, and there was our guide Patrick, holding a sign with our name on it. There were 3 other Solstice passengers in our group, making us a total of 6 in the van.

Pat drove into Dunedin, stopping at places of interest including the University, the Dunedin Railway Station, and Baldwin St. We had some free time at the Octagon in downtown, allowing us to see a couple of Cathedrals (or get a coffee). We then rode out to Larnach Castle, which was really very interesting. Pat gave quite a narrative about it on the ride out there, and we had a guided tour inside the castle. There was enough time to explore the gardens (or get a coffee) or both.

Pat then drove us to a pub in his home village of Portobello for lunch. We all ordered the fish and chips, which were by far the very best we've ever eaten! After lunch, Pat, ever narrating the next stop, drove us out through sheep farms, to the Otego Peninsula for our visit to Nature's Wonders. There, we were put into an off-road vehicle for the ride out to the natural coastal habitat of fur seals and the blue penguins. The seal pups had just been born the month before. It was truly amazing and awesome!

We had a stop by the Albatross Center, and the albatross were circling overhead.

Pat has a great sense of humor, and was an excellent guide and driver.

Mark was great in rescheduling our tour that was delayed by a day due to a cruise ship schedule change. We had a great time on the Argo tour even with the gale force winds that we experienced that day. The Albatross tour was cancelled due to the terrible weather conditions but Mark did not allow bad weather to dampen our experience. Well done!

Great communication before joining the tour to start with. We met a welcoming and friendly Mark. We had come off the Celebrity Solstice and needless to say this was a much better option in many ways than the Ships tour options. We were a party of eight, had a quick coffee stop in Dunedin, and our first visit on the tour was Larnach Castle. What beautiful grounds and wonderful history about the "Castle" and the family. Mark personally walked us around the house and gave us a thorough tour inside. Then we were able to have some time to wonder and take pictures in the grounds.
We returned to the mini bus and Mark took the order for the lunch which he preordered and it was ready within five minutes of arriving at the restaurant in Portobello. We had Blue Cod and chips with a glass of local beer, delicious and reasonably priced.
We then made our way along the Otego Peninsula to the Natures Wonders experience. We were then taken in a 4x4 Argo vehicle dressed in a rubberised all in one and whisked along at quite a speed along a narrow, dusty roadway, stopping at various points along the way. The views were spectacular. We were met by a very enthusiastic character called Perry at the seal colony. He explained what they do and proudly showed us the seals and blue penguins. It was a little window on Mother Nature and a special experience.
Mark took us to Baldwin Street, one of the Worlds steepest streets and we had a delicious authentic ice cream from a vendor in a cabin at the bottom of the street.
We then went to view Dunedin Railway station, which again was beautiful. Mark then gave us a little momento each and left us feeling that we had enjoyed a totally awesome tour, with an awesome guy and he totally delivered the tour in a friendly, informative and natural way. It was a busy, exhilarating and thoroughly enjoyable day out in Dunedin. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better tour and guide and I would highly recommend it.
