Clean, comfortable hotel, underground parking available at no extra cost. Staying for a few days wardrobe space a little limited. Disappointed that both the restaurant and cafe attached to the restaurant though under separate ownership were closed for the tenor of our stay though room had small kitchenette with microwave, If you wish to be outside the city (10min drive) and beside the sea decent place to stay. Also have complimentary access to nearby warm sea-water swimming pool.

There is much to like about this hotel. The location is right on the beach and quite an incredible view across the ocean, and reception staff really friendly and helpful. The specific beach facing room we booked was great - but we had a concern about the hotel manager saying two days before we arrived that they could not guarantee the room would be available when we arrive - even though we pre-paid for it! She said they might get a "walk-in" before we got there who they would give it to. Strange way to run a hotel, however the room was available when we arrived so all was okay. The room was clean and comfy and good amenities - outdoor furniture had suffered from ocean air and was a little rusted and run down.
This is our second visit here this year and again it did not fail to deliver. We chose this for a short Christmas getaway and the moment you step into the room, you feel you are away from it all. We opted for a front suite; these are nicely appointed, well furnished with a spa bath as well as shower, hob, pans, toaster, microwave to make eating in easier if that’s what you want to do.
The staff were outstanding. Front desk, you made our stay with your smiles, greetings and a Merry Christmas called up to our deck as you arrived for work. Nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!
My wife and I had stayed at Hotel St Clair prior to this booking and had found a specific room we wished to stay in, it was a luxury apartment with a great balcony and ocean views. I requested the specific room number and was told it was available for the 2 nights I wanted, I then paid for that room for our 2 night stay a week in advance to confirm the booking and was told it was a non refundable booking. Arrive at the hotel looking forward to our weekend away only to find that they had given the room I had paid for to someone else WTF, I asked why and the receptionist said people had been staying in the room and wanted to extend their stay, I said why didn't you say the room was not available, she could only apologise, they gave me a $32 refund - it was an insult really and I will think long and hard before recommending anyone stay there.

What a nice place right on the water . The staff are so super . Highly recommend for a stay in Dunedin . The beds are super comfy and excellent local restaurants
Easy parking under the building . Worth booking
The room we were assigned was comfortable and well appointed. The view of the ocean was only available on the balcony, and it was a bit too windy to sit out.
The hotel is right on the promenade, so a walk along the beach is easy to access.
You will need to pay up front when you check in.
