This is my favourite place in Dunedin, and the best museum I have visited probably ever! Natural wonders from all over the world, as well as artifacts from some darker parts of history, peppered with dark humour in places. You could spend hours in here and constantly find new things to awe at within the displays.

Aside from the the incredible displays that have been donated and collected, the museum owner, Bruce’s personal artwork that is for sale in the museum is absolutely magnificent. The patience, planning and steady hand that goes in to these pieces is astonishing to say the least. If I had endless funds I would have snapped up the lot. Bruce is also a lovely person to talk to. It’s lovely to see that at the heart of the museum, there seems to be a strong message of conservation, with all materials within sourced ethically, and nothing on display being killed for material gain.

All in all, it’s definitely the best 10 dollars you’ll spend in the South Island, so do yourself a favour and take the time to visit!
