Stayed here September 2013. Nice place to stay, the rooms are spacious and clean, good size kitchenette and bathroom. The people were really good to deal with as we were arriving late at night they left the door open for us and we didn't see them again until checkout time a few days later. Handy location 5 mins drive from the city centre. This place is good value for money and I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a long weekend with friends. Comfortable beds. Good location. Washer and dryer handy as it was one stop of many. Huge tv. Good wifi. Petrol station across the road was handy. Nice bench to sit outside. Decent shower and bathroom

We stayed in unit 10 (upstairs) for one night. The room is just perfect; spacious, clean, a comfy bed, good shower, huge TV (the largest I've ever seen in any motel) with many channels, a washing machine and a dryer in the bathroom (plus free detergent) a small balcony. The only problem is the traffic noise which was loud and constant during the night and could be heard regardless of whether the door (to the balcony) was open or shut. If you are not a light sleeper (like I am) this is the perfect motel. Otherwise, perhaps ask for a quieter room, or bring ear plugs.

It cost $40 to get to this motel by taxi, an easy drive from the airport. The man on reception was friendly and showed us to our room. The room was spacious and had a washing machine (with wash powder) and a drier in the bathroom, both of which worked efficiently. There was also a drying screen in the garden just outside the back door. The shower was really powerful and there was a good hair drier in the bathroom. There were complimentary tea & coffee in the room with little pots of UHT milk which actually tasted ok. There was no noise from traffic or people during the night. The only thing to fault, being picky, was that the towels were pretty basic. Overall it was really good value for money.
The Thai restaurant just opposite was excellent (Sema's). It was about a 20 minute walk to the centre of Christchurch. The taxi to the Tranz Alpine crossing was $35.

This motel was in a great location. Our room had everything in it we needed, even a washing machine and dryer ! Across the road there was a Petrol station and next door to that a supermarket so we could wander over for "essentials"., extra milk, bread etc. We could take a 1 minute walk to an Indian restaurant , a Thai restaurant and a very nice bar called "Baillies". The bus stop into the city was on our doorstep , the city being only a couple of kilometers away. Another nice bar called "Robbie's" just down the road. Our motel room was very clean, had a balcony and was very quiet. The staff were very nice, friendly and obliging. We will definitely stay here again (small complex, maybe 16 rooms) we highly recommend the Azena Motel .

Room Tip: All face the same way, first floor units have the advantage of cars not being parked in front of room, (8 units downstairs, 8 upstairs )
