Nice historic house and we got a table with a view - great stuff. Service was friendly and (with one exception - waiting for the desert order) quick. Food - definitely the best Spanish food we had so far in Christchurch. The tapas (we took the platter) are very creative and full of taste - outstanding. We loved the fried eggplants and the chorizos .but it was all good ..
The dessert (we had the Chocolate mousse - a dream) was outstanding as well. Maybe fresh strawberries as topping (instead of canned ones) would have added another tick, but hey - it is autumn. The mains (seafood paella) was good, but I would not rank it under the best Paella's we ever had. Problem is - a great paella has the meat (or fish) cooked together with the rice ... And here most of the seafood (crabs and mussles) have been served in shells - i.e. they had no contact to the rice during the cooking process. This makes the rice drier and the typical paella flavour is missing. I thought as well that the cook tried to stretch the safran a bit ... not what you would expect given the price of the food.
Food (with starter and dessert) was clearly enough for the two of us (we are an elderly couple), but I am not sure this would have been true as well if we would have brought our children with us ... just something to consider. The sangria was ok, though not quite seasoned. I think the fruit pieces (including lots of apple - hmm) just came prior to serving into the wine ...
Overall - some outstanding Spanish food and some good food with further improvement opportunities. Rating is in my view between 4 and 5 stars, but I thought given the price they could work still a bit harder to achieve the five.

I hate to write a bad review on this place as I have been before and it has been great.
My partner and I had lunch on a beautiful sunny day. We were seated by friendly staff.
We had the Calamari and soup which was lovely. We were still a little hungry so ordered some croquettes to share. There were 4 of them. We both started to eat them and found that they were still frozen in the middle. Crunchy frozen. We stopped eating and informed our waitress who was most apologetic and said she would get us some more. We had eaten half of one each.
Around 10 minutes later another staff member bought 2 croquettes back which I presume had been the 2 that we had not touched. They were over cooked and burnt. We did not eat them and asked for them to be taken off our bill.
I think the chef must have taken offense.
The head waiter was very apologetic and said that she would discuss it with management.
Kindly they did not charge us for our wine and coffee.
Such a shame as the food is normally brilliant.
On a positive, the staff were extremely friendly and professional and seemed disappointed in what the kitchen had done.

Thoroughly enjoyed our selection of tapas and would have loved to try more but was intent on having space for dessert, which we both enjoyed to round out our evening. Great food coupled with smiley helpful staff. I love having happy smiling staff sharing the evening with us

Been a while since we came here but fancied lunch looking out at the gardens on a warmish day. We were well received and had a table on the deck just under cover outside with a view towards the gardens. We decided to go for the Tapas special and so waited eagerly to see what came. We had one soup and one salad to start and then a selection of Tapas (squid, potatoes, aubergine, chorizo etc) and then surprisingly a lamb chop with potato (we had forgotten this) everything was tasty including the wine. There was a nice "family owned restaurant" feel to our visit and so we stayed a bit longer and had the most wonderful creme brulee served with coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here again, will not be as long before we revisit. It was also great to see the place so busy, I am sure everyone was delighted with what was presented that day.

With a group for Xmas get together, lovely venue, service a bit slow, but very busy. Lamb Shoulder with vegies was a fave with most of group, just a bit light on the vegies.
