As a regular patron, and a Gold Card Accor member, we were stunned to find that Novotel Christchurch’s response to the modest public holiday surcharge, was to not honour the guaranteed Accor 2 for 1 members meal deal, over Easter. Good news for us, we found a great dinner alternative nearby. Bad news for Novotel, never again will we darken your door. Note - bring your own pillow unless you like a pillow that is both extremely hard and of a thickness that might work for a giraffe. We resorted to using folded towels. And don’t get too excited about the 13th floor upgrade. All a bit tired, a long way from an executive suite in a serious international hotel, and probably no larger that all of the lower level floors.

We are so very disappointed by your comments around you recent stay at the Novotel. We have failed to meet you expectations and for that, I apologise. Let me address each issue individually.

The Accorplus card has “Dining privileges exceptions” as listed on the website at on there website under dining-exceptions. These exceptions have always been in place with AccorPlus in every hotel in NZ and AUS. Im sorry you were not made aware of the exception before you purchased the card. I will ensure our team are passing on the information that is relevant before taking bookings on the excepted dates

We, like all Novotel’s have a specially designed pillow menu available for our guests to allow them to choose a pillow perfect for them. This is shared with guests via the guest compendium in the rooms and on the TV. Please let us know if the pillow is not perfect for you so we can change it immediately. We want everyone to get the perfect nights rest at our hotel
The 13th floor of the hotel is our top floor, showing the best views of Christchurch and each room has amenities not available in the Superior rooms.

I appreciate your sharing your thoughts, it is my hope that you will give us the opportunity to better redeem ourselves in the near future. Please reach out to me directly if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experience around

as always - we could have done with more shower soap, not enough for 2 people, lucky I take my own!
Bed super comfy, location was excellent! easy check in and out. We stayed an extra night as we were offered a good deal to do so.

As others have mentioned this hotel is excellent for a central city hotel that is not noisy. It is set back off the street and right beside the new library. Reminders of the Christchurch earthquake obvious to see as it is opposite the Christchurch Cathedral rebuild project. We stayed for three nights over Easter. It was an easy walk everywhere we wanted to go, albeit we did have a family car for the first two days. Best to let the hotel know you will have a car as they can reserve parking for you. The outdoor self-parking is fine but gets full and even though we pride ourselves on knowing Christchurch quite well, we missed the hotel loading bay, which is not near the front entrance and appears to be on the footpath. Park there and then check-in and get staff directions on where to enter the car park, as it's not difficult but easier when you know how! We stayed on one of the two Executive floors (12th/13th floors). The room was adequate for our needs - the bed was comfortable and room serviced each day when we were out. Air-conditioning quite loud but it was hot when we stayed so we did appreciate it. The staff were welcoming and friendly - we are Accor Plus members but meal benefits don't apply on Public holidays so we did not eat in during our stay.

Room tip: Higher rooms would be quieter and bigger I guess.

While Christchurch is still rebuilding we are also the most modern city in NZ. All city's have continuous development and we are very lucky to have the amazing state of the art buildings around us, like the library

The accommodation was comfortable and the room was perfectly adequate. The hotel staff are welcoming and helpful and I opted for valet parking which made things very easy. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Dinner was a little difficult to get as we hadn't booked but the wait was not too long & the waiting staff did their best. A pleasant comfortable stay in central location.

Room tip: Room was on 5th floor with no view but quiet

Executive room was a bit tired. But bed was good. Wifi good also. Aircon did not seem to change temp and could not go below 15 degrees. Service at dinner was atrocious. Breakfast was very good. Buffet with heaps of options. Overall stay was good. Well situated.
