This hotel is fantastically located right in the middle of Christchurch. By this I mean - right in the middle - across r he road from the Cathedral and in the same building as the tram stop at the Christchurch Cathedral Mall. We had adjoining rooms with two bedrooms and the rooms were fitted out with all that is expected of a Quest. As someone else has said, the lift is a bit beaten up and the entrance underwhelming but the hotel is great. You also need to pay for parking at a lot next door. Overall though I would definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our 3 night at The Quest. Reception doesn't run for 24 hours, but when there was a Reception person there during the day they were very helpful. There is no Restaurant, but there are many close by. There were kitchen facilities, and a clean bathroom and bedroom. We found it quiet, and easily accessible to come and go from our room.

Room tip: Had everything we wanted, bathroom items, coffee/tea facilities, and it was quiet. There are plenty of eating places close by.

Spent three evenings in a one bedroom apartment, it was home away from home. Comfortable beds, kitchenette, dishwasher and a comfy lounge suite - the latter is often lacking in most accommodation. Staff very helpful and efficient. Great base for sightseeing and within easy walking distance to eateries, supermarket and retail shopping. Recommend the tram if you're new to the city it gives a great insight into where you would like to spend some extra time.

Don't worry about the slightly dingy lobby and the slightly banged-about lift ... our two-room apartment was spotless and spacious and right in the heart of the city! Great to have a full kitchen available but even better for us was having a washer-dryer in the apartment. The hotel is a few steps from Cathedral Square and all the restaurants on New Regent St. The only thing I could ask for was a window in the second bedroom, but the occupant didn't mind. Overnight parking $18.

Stayed in a studio room, has everything you need. Being located by cathedral junction is great. Just out the doorstep is the Christchurch cathedral and the tram runs rights through, so easy to get out and sightsee. Secure underground parking (limited so book first) is great, makes unloading/loading very easy. Easy walking distance to various food shops or even the inner cbd.
