This has to be on any visitor's must-see list. A soaring ceiling, altar, choir stalls etc all made from cardboard with a little assistance from some shipping containers. The attendants we met were so knowledgeable and made us most welcome.

The transitional cathedral replaces the damaged cathedral in the town square. Much has been made of the "cardboard" construction. Inside there is a lightyear airy space that feels respectable and is a testament to how humanity make sense of the recent anguish.
This Cathedral is a transitory building while waiting for the main cathedral to be rebuilt after the earthquake. A very interesting building indeed. Design by a Japanese and a lot portion of the building is build out of cardboard. A must visit place if you can spare 45minutes.
This church was designed to go up quickly and became an important turning point for the moral of the city after the quake. It's interesting to see the material the the architect chose.that would be easy to build, yet give the feeling of a peaceful cathedral.
A great building that will apparently last for years. I know it's only temporary, but it still had a lovely feeling to it and was quite inspiring. Even th portocabin toilets were immaculate!
I must say, I was against this being built at the cost it was going to be, but not being a Cantabrian, it really was nothing to do with me! My memories are of a beautiful Cathedral in the Square and am very sad it is going to more ruins that it already was. But on visiting the Cardboard Cathedral, it is nice and so lovely but it is not the old one - would love a decision to be made on the Cathedral in the Square
