Lack of service

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 19 Nov 2022
I stayed three nights and my room was not serviced even once. The rubbish bin wasn’t emptied nor the towels replaced. A daily service of the room is listed on the website so I expected that in an extended stay it would happen. Not good!

Sliding open the doors and pulling aside the ripped curtain revels a cell like room with the beds and a bathroom off to the side. Hairs in & on the bed along with stains on the bedding. Aircon didn't work. Power socket didnt work. Mold in bathroom. water damaged paneling swelling and filthy. Slow wifi drops out & didnt work. When checking out and answering truthfully about the room when asked how was the stay the gentlemans only reply was "Do we have your credit card details?" what he had already confirmed and walked away.

Room tip: Just dont. Leave.

We stayed for 4 days, the hotel offers a restaurant and bar which i am presuming closed by 8pm but when we arrived there was 12 or us, we asked if the bar was open and it wasn't and would they consider opening it and they wouldn't, if you offer a bar service and a restaurant it should be open but i never saw it open once, the rooms were a good size it had every thing we needed, the pillows were amazing, love the pillows, they have unlimited wifi but you had to go to the office every day to get a new ticket to log back in, it was frustrating as we would get back to the Hotel at night and stream movies from our laptop only to run out of wifi in the end i asked for 2 a day, i am not sure why you have to keep requesting tickets and it was a new pass word every time, there are a lot of restaurants close by and walking distance, staff were lovely and as were the cleaning staff, i happened to see a very large spider climbing up the curtains and i tried to kill it but couldn't then i lost it, so i asked the cleaners if they could do a really good clean and try and find it and get rid of it, they were very accomodating i am not sure if they found it but i never saw it again, thank god! I think we would stay there again.

The room was a good size and it was good to have some basic kitchen facilities (microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster). I had a heater that worked intermittently and had to go and get a code for the wifi every day as they gave you a very small amount of data to use. Overall it was fine.

My sister and I made a last minute decision to stay in ChCh and had not booked any accommodation. We were in Riccarton and there was only one place that I can remember staying in in Riccarton (Several years ago.) It was the Ashley. That visit had not been a good stay, BUT this visit was brilliant. We had walked in off the street, with no booking and were given a one room motel, on the ground floor. Which was just what we wanted as we both have back problems. The room was very clean, had everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable. We had no need to turn the heating on as the unit was warm. The lady at the reception desk was very friendly and welcoming and for the price I would definately stay here again. It was less than a hundred dollars,. The place is also fairly close to shopping and food outlets. Well worth a visit. Thank you.

Room tip: For accessibility the ground floor on the East side is perfect and holds the heat from the sun
