Really enjoyed visiting Orana. I love places that places their focus on conservation as opposed to human entertainment.
The Lion Encounter was a brilliant way to finish off the visit. You are locked into a cage on the back of a van and taken round the lion enclosure. The lion keepers who come in with you then feed the lions, which then climb all over the cage to grab the food and stalk you as you like prey as you drive around - exhilarating!
Huge respect for the staff there and what they do.

A decent size wildlife park with a good variety of animals. They have a shuttle if you don't want to walk. For those who want to, you can take a leisurely stroll throughout the park to see the animals. The volunteers are really lovely.
This activity would only take a few hours. We had a wonderful time.

Spent a great half day here. First of all we walked around the whole park with highlights being seeing the baby springbok being bottle fed, feeding the graffi and seeing a grorilla up close. Next we took the free shuttle ride around hearing more information about each animal. Loved the big open non caged enclosures. The cafe onsite also has a good variety of food and reasonable prices.

I hadn't been to Orana Park for 25 years and this was a wonderful surp
rise. Lots of animals in reasonable sized groups, wide frontage to exhibits so that you were able to clearly see the animals from quite a close distance.
Only downnside is their shuttle that goes round the park isn't frequent enough - we had to wait for the next one (30 minutes) and saw other groups with young children doing the same. Perhaps in peak season/hot weather more frequent shuttles are needed.

Had the BEST day. The staff are wonderful and super friendly. The animals are so close you can almost touch them. It’s great to see them in the wild. All shows are really well organised and timed perfectly. Love the train ride around the grounds. Makes it so easy to hop on and off.
The lion experience was definitely the highlight and well worth the extra money. What an amazing experience.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO CRYSTAL who organised a last minute ticket for us to get into the lion experience. You were so caring and concerned with ensuring we had the best experience. We are forever grateful.
