Went with the grandchildren who were kept entertained, while learning about "The Old Days". Informative commentary on the tram and Roger (our driver) was able to give us a tour of the tram sheds and restoration projects. Children also learned about shovelling coal, writing with chalk and visited car and aircraft displays. Adults could spend a lot of time here

An eclectic mix of Victorian times to around the 1960's. Look at themed stores. Travel through time in the vehicle museum (and more). Travel on the double decker tram. There's an old train, at $2 each this great value. This is not modern day replica - this is life as it was. Maybe a little rough round the edges, but not to be missed. Good little food stalls. A good way to spend a summer Sunday evening. No charge - survives purely on donations.

This was full of unexpected surprises. I wish we could have had more time there. Reasonably priced for all that was on offer. It covers a large area so wear comfy shoes. Very small children would get bored as it is so spread out. The model railway layouts were fantastic. Being able to hop on and off train and tram was great. Plenty of excellent exhibitions and cute little coattges and shops you could go in. Staff were scattered around who would answer questions. We had a lovely hot pie at the end and it was really hot - no food poisoning here. The girl on reception was so friendly and helpful.

We went on 2 January which is a public holiday so it was very quiet and some areas did not have any staff manning them. That was OK as there was still a bit to look at. We enjoyed our time in the Train exhibit as you could press a button on the three exhibits and they would start to run. Great fun! There were a lot of historic areas to visit. I think if you are able to get there on a "Train" weekend it would be great. Those weekends are advertised on their website. We enjoyed the tram ride around the area too. Individual areas are looked after by special interest groups so it really is a labour of love to keep the exhibits looking fresh. The Park would really be improved by an influx of help but getting volunteers to assist with these sorts of activities is really hard to do. I commend those volunteers who keep the park going the way they do.

I can not understand why more is not said about this place. It was a definite high light of our trip and if the opportunity arises I wouldn't hesitate to come back!
