Very helpful, friendly staff
Location was convenient for city
Bed was comfortable, climate control good
Room was behind the lift shaft so there was some noise from that
Breakfast buffet was extensive and what I sampled was tasty
Body lotion dispenser did not dispense - needed refilling
We stayed two nights. Upon arrival our tv would not work so we had maintainace come and fix it then our air conditioning would only blow cold air so maintenance came after a time and fixed a regulator in the ceiling to get it to work. Within the hour it was blowing cold air again. I rang reception only to be told to wait on the line. Eventually after 17 minutes I hung up and about 30 minutes after that a man came to our room and fiddled with the temp Gaige then said to give it half an hour. It still did not work. By this stage I was needing my rest as I had come from hospital after surgery to recover enough to travel home. I just put more clothes on and slept. The next day we left our room at 8 am and turned on the green make up our room sign. We didn’t return back to our room until 1:30. Our room remained un serviced. The internet connection stopped working so I rang reception and asked what might be done to get internet. I explained that I was not able to leave my room as I was resting after surgery so needed instructions over the phone. The lady insisted that I go to reception for her to look at my device and was clear in saying that there was no other way to get internet other than going on the Hilton site as we had previously the evening before. So I was left without heating, without internet and with an in serviced room. The location is beautiful but your staff need some training in service and care. I have stayed in hotels all over the world on many occasions and find this one lacking. I left disappointed with my experience
As the name suggests, we were on the doorstep of the beautiful, expansive Christchurch public park. Not depending on that to carry the day, this hotel brought the flowers and garden ambiance right into our midst. Wonderful onsite restaurant and bar with very friendly and engaging staff. This would be a perfect location for a conference or family reunion. Our favorite hotel on our trip through New Zealand.
When you book for 2 rooms, you would think they would be next to each or at least a few doors apart. (We have stayed several times and always loved The Chateau. )
Until our last visit - a group of 3 booked 2 rooms at the same time yet we were assigned to rooms as far apart as the Chateau allows.
When I questioned this I was told - “ We are fully booked and your rooms have already been assigned”.
Perhaps the person in charge of assigning rooms should read this.
So disappointed.
On a positive note the in house restaurant was outstanding as always
I was told at 3.30 that my room was still occupied and that I must wait until 430 this was not great. The bed was old and had deep ruts in it making sleep difficult, I was forced to join their Hilton club just to access internet so overall I was not impressed.
