Great Boutique - excellent location
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Feb 2024via mobile
Checked in to the observatory for two nights. Beautiful boutique located across the street from ChristChurch botanical gardens. Rooms are well appointed and very clean. Shower is great. Wi-Fi works very well. Small gym and breakfast offering! A few blocks from market as well with many upscale restaurants and bars

Modern hotel in historic building but falls short of a "5" for two reasons:
1. Breakfast options were limited and the breakfast room was too small for the number of guests in the hotel. Also, why was the cleaning cart in the breakfast room while everyone was eating breakfast?
2. Checkout time was early: 10:00 am. When we asked for a few minutes more while I picked up a rental car, the answer was an emphatic "No." Despite those two correctable problems, this hotel doesn't have to do much more to become a top place to stay in Christchurch.

What a beautiful building oozing with history. Great room, clean with a great bathroom. Short walk to restaurants and the Botanical Gardens. Beautiful lounge area, quick check in/check out and the usual friendly service typifies the NZ way.

Totally cool hotel- great location- in the Arts Center and across the street from the botanical gardens. We had a lovely room and could walk most everywhere we wanted to go. Looks like it is an old hotel, but it is very up to date and accommodating.

We loved this unique hotel. The grounds and the building itself were historic and charming. The staff were very accommodating and the amenities exceeded our expectations. The interior of the hotel was charming and decorated beautifully with free tea/coffee/water/cookies 24/7. The staff were helpful when we arrived early and checked out late and they stored our bags for us. The size of the room was great and the bathroom/shower was really nice. The hotel was also in walking distance to a lot of bars and restaurants and all of our tour pickup spots. Would recommend!

Very smart modern interior, very sympathetic to the historic architecture. Our room was a good size with a well equipped bathroom featuring victoriana style fittings. Very clean and bright. Breakfast was self-serving continental in a small eatery but well set up and good quality. Again spotlessly clean. Great place would stay again.

Room tip: Excellent coffee shop in the grounds with fab scones
