Comfortable, older style motel unit, but at short notice was very acceptable and much appreciated. Owners are lovely, very accommodating and even brought fresh garden flowers into our unit when servicing which was a lovely touch.
Tip to fellow travellers, book direct when making reservations (not through booking.com), as the booking.com commission is put on top of the reservation price. :)

The staff are lovely, the room was really clean and had everything we needed for an overnight stay.
Reasonable price and close to shopping malls and plenty of choice in restaurants and takeaways with a supermarket just down the road.
Very comfortable units,well looked after.has every thing that you would need in a motel unit, good heating.not to far from supermarkets also handy to Riccarton mall.not to far from city centre.The hosts are very helpful,and very pleasant.
The Coachman is a clean comfortable motel - that leaves many higher rated hotels/motels behind for facilities and service. Very friendly, helpful owners make sure that your stay is as enjoyable and hassle free as it can be. We have stayed there several times - and one (small) criticism would be the Saturday night parties in one or 2 nearby houses are noisy and late into the night. The local council can and should sort this
This was ok, but could have done with a spring clean. All three wine glasses had crystal sediment in their bottoms so we had to scrub them out. The dishbrush was filthy with black grease. The vinyl on the coach was peeling off. There were beneficiaries staying at the motel and the police came and arrested a man the morning we left. Unfortunately they were using a dirty string mop to clean some of the floor areas. Those areas felt sticky under foot.

We stayed overnight in Christchurch in March of 2020 and enjoyed our stay at The Coachman Motel. The motel picked us up from the airport and returned us the next day for our car rental for a nominal fee. Check in was fast and easy and we were upgraded to a larger room. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and roomy. In addition, we had a refrigerator, stove top, and microwave if we had wanted to cook. The bathroom was clean, modern, and roomy. We would use The Coachman Motel if we were to return to Christchurch again.
