The staff at this hotel are so friendly and helpful, our room was in the new part of the hotel so everything was fresh and new, nice sized room with a very comfortable large bed they had made good room is the space. The bathroom had a large shower cubicle and the shower was good the complementary toiletteries was of a high standard. We did overlook the car park but it did not bother us to much. We had an included breakfast package on day one we was the only guest and breakfast was slick and cooked to order unfortunately I can't say the same about day 2 when after 20 minutes we had to catch the waitresses attention to order our food has our hot drinks was going cold. The staff seemed overwhelmed.

Stayed here for one night for Business trip.
I got a new room with very comfortable bed (the pillows were rubbish they looked good but were terrible.

The service on check in was ok, there was no one there when we arrived but when she did turn up she was pleasant.

The Bar and staff sad, if your going to hire overseas people then please teach them how to talk to your customers. As we’re paying their wages.

Overall ok pricey for what it was.

Hi Nighthound1,

Thank you for your feedback,

Please note that we have a large range of pillows available for each guest. This pillow menu is in your room and can easily be ordered from the front reception if you would like different pillows from the in-room pillows. All our staff are highly trained in hotel customer service and we are disappointed to hear your comments, but we do appreciate all feedback on our service and do hope to welcome you again.

Kind regards

Matthew

Welcoming staff and an environment that has all the right ingredients but something is definitely missing in this establishment. Ambience could be created by softening the harsh decor in the rooms - flowers, light, white, and 'real' art.
We enjoyed the pool area but do the staff have to have their meetings there? A softening of the exposed pool area with potted trees might help provide privacy.
Access to the pool is through the restaurant area that seemed to be in darkness most of the time. Once again little ambience there - sadly we weren't at all tempted to eat there during our 3 night stay. I ordered a coffee but was told I'd have to wait as the barista had finished her shift.
People eager to provide service and a beautiful environment are what we wanted and with some more effort this established hotel could do it- but at present it should only be a one night stay not a destination.

Hi bendorcoco,

Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the service of our staff. We have received very positive feedback on the look of our new rooms and the restaurant/ambiance, sorry this does not appeal to you. Our staff do have meetings but these are not held poolside ? The pool area has all been re landscaped and the new plantings will grow to create privacy. While the restaurant is closed for dining we do turn lights to a minimum to do our bit for the environment, however the bar is always open for drinks. Please note the pool can also easily be accessed in a number of ways including from the carpark and from the entrance along the ground floor hallway. During the quiet time between breakfast and dinner our bar is attended by the front reception team who are more then happy to serve you drinks during the day. We do appreciate all guest feedback, and we do hope to welcome you again.

Kind regards

Matthew

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent laundry facilities. Shame the pool wasn't warm enough to swim in. Rooms were very nice and were quite big. Beds are very comfortable. Would recommend families or couples to stay there.

We stayed here to break our trip from Christchurch through to Picton, and were really pleased with it. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the staff are friendly and welcoming. There's a good bar and restaurant - but's it's within walking distance of the centre of town if you want other dining options. We'd stay here again.
