Description: Marlborough has a special place in the hearts of the Giesen brothers. To celebrate this, and the wines they create, in late 2011, 30 years after their arrival in New Zealand, they opened a Cellar Door in the heart of the region's wineries. Situated in the midst of vineyards on Marlborough's golden mile this characterful building captures the Giesen Brothers spirit of hospitality, giving visitors a place to experience a taste of Giesen, and learn about their winemaking. Also as a special treat, visitors can taste some back vintages or trial wines thanks to the Enomatic wine dispensing system. In addition Guests can kick back and relax with a glass of Giesens wine and a platter of regional treats in the charming courtyard.

Stopped at Giesen for wine tasting but having been recommended to try lunch we stayed and had the platter of fish and meat and cheeses for 2 and it was delicious
Also had the wine “flight” a selection of their wines to go with the meal and these were wonderful
Worked off some of the lunch with the bike ride back to base

We decided to popped out for a quick lunch on Valentine's Day. On arrival at Giesen's the carpark was quite full but we had no trouble getting a table even though a bus load of tourist were wine tasting and dining. We ordered the platter and a couple of glasses of wine - the platter arrived within 10 minutes and was delicious. We topped it off with dessert to make it a perfect dining experience.

We spent 3 days in this beautiful part of the world and went to many cellar doors (such as Cloudy Bay, Seresin, Fromm, Clos Henri, Saint Clair estate, Villa Maria, Nautilus, Brancott Estate & Rock Ferry Wines) and out of these lot Giesen wins hands down. Firstly and in my opinion most importantly its free. Secondly you can taste the largest array of wines out of all them without restriction. From reasonable priced to expensive ones. Thirdly, the quality of their wine is of the highest order (we had to stop ourselves from buying too many) and finally their customer service was professional, friendly and very experienced. This is the way to attract and secure loyal customers wineries of the Marlborough take note!!!

Great staff, good wines to taste and learn about followed by a very delicious board of cheese, meats and fish.
Wel, worth a visit, but advisable to pre book to avoid disappointment.
