Outstanding service

Review of The Marlborough
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Apr 2021via mobile
We stayed at the The Marlborough over the Easter weekend, and the overall experience was outstanding. The friendliness and service that we experienced was second to nothing we have ever encountered. The setting of the lodge is perfect, and we were able to visit most of the vineyards as well as Picton, and the excellent aircraft museum ( which is excellent) within easy shirt drives. The on-site restaurant (the Harvest) was equally excellent.

We were lucky enough to have three nights at this fantastic location. The surrounding are so gorgeous that you relax driving thru the gardens. The lodge is still very central and offer fantastic location with excellent rooms, gorgeous bathrooms and an exceptional restaurant in the Harvest Restaurant which is part of the lodge. Breakfast was a buffet with cooked menu available which was to die for and everything offered was fantastic. Staff were extremely helpful and Tim the temporary manger was fantastic and really went the extra mile. Canapés and drinks in front of open fire before dinner was a treat. Recommend this lodge to anyone wanting a relaxing break away with luxury surroundings, friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous pool and gardens to wonder. Lodge is in pristine condition with everything expected at your fingertips including being in a central location.
We look forward to returning in 2021.

Room tip: We had a fantastic upstairs room with balcony access and luxurious bathroom.

which is wrapped on both sides by lavender, your eyes are taken in with the sight of a lovely lodge which has been beautifully and tastefully redone. It is a welcome sight,
an inviting place and you are welcomed warmly. We were told , "be guests in our home" , and you truly do feel as if you are, nothing was too much to ask, one was always asked " if anything is needed"," if everything is ok"....we felt so well taken care of and in such great comfort. Our room was exquisite, colors muted, fabrics well chosen, the most comfy bed of the trip....and a gorgeous bath, with everything at finger tips. We enjoyed the turn down service , where a gift treat was left on plumped up pillows. Small items were in the room , like plums and cookies...extras that add and are often absent. There is a pool area, and pretty gardens wherever you look....this effort, work and consideration of space was so appreciated and noticed.
We enjoyed the apero in front of an outdoor fire, and dinner both evenings was enjoyed in a lovely dining space, very intimate, cozy, warm....simply a special stay in a special place. Staff was so outgoing and so in tune with you during your stay. Kudos to all of you at the Marlborough Lodge....we could not have imagined anything nicer.

Room tip: all rooms are nice, we enjoyed our downstairs room with chairs on the porch

My elderly mother and I were traveling together on a "bucket list" trip for her. This place exceeded our expectations. The property and rooms are beautifully designed, the gardens are lovely and the grounds are serene and spacious. The room was lovely, with every comfort thought-through, and the restaurant has a delicious menu, carefully designed to reflect seasonal/local foods and is very well executed. But it is the service that really makes the Marlborough Lodge stand out at any price. Samantha (the manager) and her crew are kind, thoughtful, attentive and when we had a need they used one of the most wonderful of phrases in the service industry: "leave it with me" which always meant: I am now taking responsibility for your request, you can stay focused on your trip and I'll take care of what needs to be done. And the best part is: they always did. I have travelled quite a bit, and lots of very highly-rated hotels could learn from the Marlborough what it takes to deliver consistent, top-level service. I don't know when I will make it back to New Zealand, but when I do, I will make a priority of staying here again.

Room tip: Bellbird was a lovely room - sleeping area + sitting area + balcony with seating
